To say that this semester started off with a bang would be an extreme understatement. My final semester, I am taking 18 credit hours, chairing 2 committees, the President of one organization, planning an on-campus event, chairing my class’s fundraisers, the Vice President of another organization, and apart of 5+ other organizations/committees. Along with all of this at school, I am currently searching for a job and running my blog. Personally, I love all that I do and being on the grind keeps me going. However, I am extremely overwhelmed with it all happening at once from a lot less crazy of a Winter Break.
I am taking 4 classes this semester and doing 2 research projects. The classes I am taking are History of Pandemics, Public Speaking, Discrete Math, and Statistical Regression. As for my research projects, I am continuing to work on my Honors Thesis and doing a project in a subject area of extreme passion for me – website development. There will be much more to come on my research projects in future months – they have been the source of countless hours of passion, struggles, and successes for me and I want to share what I have done with them more upon their completion. With my classes, I am finishing out my general education and Honors Program requirements and my minor requirements for my Data Science, Statistics, and Website Development minors.
On campus, I am involved in a variety of different organizations. My roles are ways that I have been able to grow as a leader and a person. These roles of mine definitely take up A TON of my time. While I am very proud of what I have done and will continue to do on my campus, I plan to share more about them in a future blog post. There is a lot of events, fundraisers, and even trips that I have planned for my classmates and I at Meredith that I feel that these roles deserve their own blog post.
Through it all, these areas that I am involved have taken up a ton of my time. To say it is hard is an understatement. I have always been one to love life in its utter craziness with things going on and on and on again, but it is really trying at times to take a step back and take some time for me. I am not going to lie, it is hard at times to take time for me and simply not be productive. My relationship is definitely a way that helps me take time for me and my amazIng girlfriend Maggie and only us. Productivity is something that keeps me going and always has, but this semester has presented its own challenges, too.
Last year before the pandemic took over our world, a data scientist came to speak to my Data Analysis class. This data scientist told us about her experiences in her undergraduate years having two internships and taking 18 credit hours while completing STEM and economics degrees. One of the things that she said that stuck with me the most is that when things are crazy busy, always know that there is an end date and when you have that end date, you will be able to get through those super busy times. Knowing that this data scientist got through her busy times, makes me realize that I can and will, too.
My passions have driven me through everything that I do. I have never been one to back down from a challenge. This Spring 2021 semester is no different.
