Valentine’s Day looks very different this year, but love is never cancelled. Today, some lovely couples including Maggie and I are sharing our love stories to remind us all that love is not ever cancelled!
Jasmine & Mac
Me and Mac started dating officially on May 13, 2019 when Mac sent me a message telling me that he liked me and wanted us to be official. The day I met him for the first time, I was sure that he was different from anyone I had ever met. Mac was my first kiss and my first boyfriend, so I am a full believer that you’ll find the right person for you when the time is right. We’ve been together for over a year and a half, and we love each other very much. I moved in with him when the pandemic began. I was worried about the changes that would come with living together, but I have loved every minute of getting to spend every day with Mac. Our typical dates are getting take out from our favorite local vegan restaurants or coffee shops. We also love watching movies and cooking new dishes together as well.
Annylu & Robbie
Robbie and I met in college. I was 18 and he was 19. We only knew each other for 2 weeks before we made things official.
Things moved quickly after that. He was my first boyfriend but something felt right. I knew he was “The One.”
We really are best friends. We have many mutual interests like movies, food, and Disney.
In fact we both love Disney so much that he decided to propose at EPCOT!
Because we were so young when we met, we got the chance to basically grow up together. We have gone through important milestones together, like college, graduation, first adult jobs, and pretty soon moving out on our own.
We had so many plans for our future but then covid hit. We used to go to the movies every week. We loved seeing movies on opening night. It was our tradition. Now that covid is a thing we have altered this. Movie nights are a huge part of our lives now. We have taken this time to rewatch some classics for the first time together. We also make special releases like the Mandalorian and Wandavision into date nights. We get into our comfy pjs, order food, and snuggle on the couch while we watch tv.
As I mentioned before, we got engaged at Disney. This was in 2018. Originally we intended to only wait until 2 years before getting married but plans change and that’s ok. We decided it made sense to move the wedding to April 2021. We even booked out venue last March. Then 2 weeks later we went into shutdown mode. We quickly changed plans again. Though we were upset and disappointed it all seems to be working out.
We are getting married in September of this year and after 3 years of being engaged we are so ready!
Blair & Gatlin
Gatlin and Blair meet on tinder, yes tinder, 3 years ago and have never looked back. About 2 weeks into their relationship they told one another they wanted to marry each other. On October 27, 2019 Gatlin proposed to Blair in the Raleigh Rose Gardens.
Shortly later corona hit, but this did not stop them. Gatlin got a job as a computer engineer in February 2020. They then moved in together in Spartanburg,SC in March of 2020. Blair graduated in May from Meredith college and started started medical school in July 2020. In their free time they also got a puppy named Daisy and planned their wedding. This couple went through a lot changes in 2020 and Corona never stopped them. Their blessing’s from God and their love conquered all. From here they will soon say “I do” on July 10, 2021.
Even corona can’t kill love.
Rachel & Stephen
Our love story began online, even though we grew up living 20 minutes apart our entire lives! We got engaged less than a year after we started dating and got married later that year. We went on a Disney Cruise to Mexico and the Bahamas for our honeymoon. A few weeks later we went to visit my sister in England. The timing ended up being perfect with Covid happening a few months later. We have spent way more of our marriage in quarantine than our but luckily we are newlyweds who love to spend time together! I’m so thankful for my other half to support me and be there through these challenging times.
Julie & Mark
Mark and I met in 2007 while working for the same company. We lived about an hour away from each other and only saw each other on the weekends until we moved in together in 2009. We loved taking road trips and travelling all over New England on our “date days” and that is something we have continued to do throughout our relationship, we love to explore and have no issue spending hours in the car together. We are avid travellers and love discovering new places – but also enjoy spending time at home with date nights every Wednesday. No TV, no phones, just a home cooked meal, a game of chess and some chatting. We married in 2011 and live in New England with our sweet little Lola.
Courtney & Nolan
This is my fiancé Nolan and I. We met through tinder in 2014❤️❤️!! My parents didn’t like that so much at first . But my brothers reinsured that’s how people meet now a days! He was very patient as my parents tried to process it all, that’s when I knew this is the guy I’m going to marry! He proposed to me January 2, 2017 and it was the best day ever.
Talia & Nolan
Ross and I met in high school and started dating at the end of our sophomore year. We’ve been together for over 6 years now, of which 4 were long distance while we were at separate colleges. Since we graduated last year, we’re finally in the same city again and thankfully no longer long distance anymore! This will actually be our first Valentine’s Day spent together in years. However, I want other couples to know that although long distance isn’t anyone’s ideal situation, it’s completely survivable and doable if you both put in the work for it! I know it’s cliche, but communication and trust are the key. People might say that all the time, but that’s because it’s true.
Hannah & Sam
“In a season where life is challenging, difficult, and ever-changing, Sam and I have grown both as individuals and as a couple. We often tell each other that the best decision we ever made was when we started dating, and we cling to our decision daily. I am so thankful that we have had each other to lean on for nearly 3 years!! 💓”
Mary Grace & Christian
Christian and I are two people who went out on a couple of dates, just to see where it would go. We ended up having a real connection which turned into a friendship and eventually more. We both share a love of travel and history, and so much more. We were both pleasantly surprised at how much we had in common. If the saying is true that eventually you find your other half, it could be more true than with us.
Holly & Jacob
We met his very first weekend of college, I was a sophomore and he was a freshman. I was actually one of the leaders of the orientation group he was in. 😂 We started out as friends and bonded over shared music tastes, liking the same type of shows, and having similar personalities. We graduated college together then did long distance for 2 years as I attended graduate school and he went to engineering school. As of last month we have been together for 6 years and it’s been the best time! Of course we have our ups and downs, but we have grown from late teens into adults together. During the pandemic, we have both been working from home for almost the entire time. It’s been really awesome getting to see his work process and how dedicated he is to his job. I already knew he loved his job, but I’d never gotten to see it like I do now in real time. He’s been my best friend, my shoulder to cry on, and the love of my life. I feel very lucky to have found him. ❤️
Kim & Chris
This is a picture of me and Kim having a sweet dinner at my house. Kim has been such a great girlfriend for me and a perfect distraction for me during COVID. I’m so happy that she’s my valentine this year, and I’m thankful that I still get to see her during a pandemic! Love is never cancelled, love is the strongest thing in life and I realize with Kim of how much we get along and wonderful things we do, me and her were meant to be!❤️ #loveisnotcanelled
Dani & Daryl
I was going away to college and he was the guy they said didn’t “do relationships”. Plans took a turn, which landed me at state college next to home and after six years of dating, a geocache proposal and a walk down the sandy aisle we became each other’s forever home. Now five years later, love grows here and stronger within. Love is never cancelled.
Although times are tough at the moment, love is not and never will be cancelled!
Kaylee & Jarrod
I have only known him a short time but he is everything I have ever wanted and more. We complement each other perfectly, and I have never been this happy.
Love is not and never is cancelled <3
