Is Crown & Ivy A Good Brand?! A Preppy Fashion Blogger’s Review!

Over the years since starting my blog and over on my Instagram (let’s be friends @_thepinkchickadee), I have raved about a Belk house brand that I have adored over the years: Crown & Ivy. I have shared and styled SOOOO many pieces from Crown & Ivy on my platform that so many of y’all have enjoyed. I also mentioned Crown & Ivy in my list of brands like Lilly Pulitzer (here) and brands like Tuckernuck (here). Although a brand central to the Southern-based department store Belk, Crown & Ivy has become a well-known brand amongst Preppy fashion enthusiasts from across the United States (and beyond!). Today, I am going to outline my personal experiences with and review the Preppy fashion brand that I’ve come to love over the years.

This Crown & Ivy review will share a bit About the brand, Pricing, Sizing, My Experience, and some of my current favorite pieces for you to add to the cart as we speak!

About Crown & Ivy:

Crown and Ivy is a Belk-exclusive, private label Belk brand that focuses on apparel specifically for the “modern Southern woman.” It was launched by the well-known department store in 2014 and currently sells women’s, men’s, and children’s apparel. The Belk house brand also does collaborations with other Southern preppy brands, including Sewing Down South in 2025 and Society Social in 2024. The brand also intends for their pieces to be versatile and worn and reworn different ways and for different occasions.

Sizing:

Crown and Ivy offers a diverse range of sizing in women’s apparel, ranging from Petite, Tall, Regular, and Plus sizing. Truly, everyone is welcome and about to enjoy the adorable styles that this Belk-owned brand has to offer.

Price Range:

Currently, Crown & Ivy women’s apparel pieces retail for upwards of $100 and typically are sold with a 30-50%+ markdowns. It is worth mentioning that pieces’ prices do fluctuate over time, as does most of the items sold at Belk both online and in-person. At the end of the season, pieces do tend to decrease to a 50-70%+ markdowns from their original price and is worthwhile waiting for if you’re willing to score a bargain. Although I don’t have much experience shopping as of recently within a Belk storefront due to my post-graduate relocation away from the South, I do recall that Belk stores frequently place the brand’s merchandise on their clearance racks for fellow bargain hunters who love the thrill of the hunt!

My Current Favorite Crown & Ivy Pieces:

My Experience:

Flashback to Winter 2017 and I was about to interview for some scholarships at what would then become my undergraduate alma mater: Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. The night before my interview, I stepped foot in a Belk – a popular Southern-based department store – for the first time ever as someone from the Washington, DC area. Little did I know I would fall in love with the Southern fashions and styles that were sold at Belk. Alongside seeing my favorite brands to this day, Lilly Pulitzer and Vineyard Vines, on the racks, I also came to love another new-to-me brand: Crown and Ivy! That Spring for my 18th birthday, I asked for several Crown & Ivy pieces which I then wore into my college years. Besides falling in love with my alma mater’s campus and receiving scholarships and Honors to attend, I also attribute my first stroll through those doors of that Belk store and newfound love of Crown & Ivy to my reasoning behind attending Meredith College and furthermore falling in love with preppy + grand millennial Southern fashions.

Flash forward to today (Summer 2025), and Crown & Ivy is well-loved by preppy and grand millennial fashion enthusiasts, influencers, and both across the South and beyond. While I did move back to the Washington, DC area post-undergraduate, I still find myself frequenting Belk’s website and *just maybe* placing an order while doing so. I find myself excited by the brand and their frequent markdowns on styles that I adore and wouldn’t feel comfortable at times splurging on elsewhere. Whether it be their adorable Ginger Jar print for Summer 2025, bright colored dresses that remind any Lilly Pulitzer lover of the resort wear brand, regular plethora of block print dresses and blouses and more for all seasons, or Hill House nap dress dupes (which I write more about here), Crown & Ivy truly exceeds all of my expectations when it comes to preppy fashion and many others’ expectations, too!

Wrap-Up:

As of today, Crown and Ivy is a well-loved brand by many preppy fashion lovers. Its incorporation of styles by higher priced preppy fashion brands that are brought to the masses at a reasonable price point with its own unique Southern flair leaves several people saying especially on Reddit: “Crown & Ivy does it again!” And while I do adore and shop at preppy fashion brands such as Lilly Pulitzer, Tuckernuck, J Crew, and PrintFresh, there is something so refreshing about the price point and variety of similar styles that Crown & Ivy offers at a fraction of the cost. And, of course, has me as a regular on Belk’s website coming back for more!

What I Wore Out Of Office – June 2025

From family cookouts and picnics to watch the pre-Fourth of July fireworks to a long weekend in Bethany Beach and a lovely week of hosting my good friend Claire and exploring around Washington, DC, Delaware, my June 2025 out of office was for sure a fun one! Ah, I LOVE Summer fun!!! Compared to June 2024, I feel extremely blessed to be where we are in June 2025. In June 2024, we experienced a family emergency due to Papa’s knee replacement surgery and post-surgical infection. Luckily, everything is OKAY today and we are all in great spirits and in a much better place than we were just 365 days ago. Grateful, thankful, and blessed for sure!

What I Wore to Work – June 2025

The June 2025 work month helped me find my direction forward in terms of my ever-evolving 2025 professional goals. I’ve honestly been just about *everywhere* when it came to what I aspired to seek out in terms of goals in my 9-5 world. My mind was going in multiple different directions! However, I have finally narrowed down my professional goals for the year and to look ahead into 2026. Ah, it feels good and I’m excited to pursue them while continuing to do what I’ve been doing professionally, too!!

Besides my professional goals within my 9-5, I am also working on some creative endeavors and goals within my side hustle – aka this incredible platform! Don’t worry, though! Y’all will be the first to hear about ALL of the excitement that is to come — I will be revamping my newsletter (likely on Substack as I’ve had quite a few friends subscribe and merge my existing newsletter audience there despite my absence!), where I will likely share the news to my subscribers first. When is the Lilly Pulitzer Sunshine Sale?!

The Sunshine Sale will occur the week/weekend after Labor Day (September 2026). You can shop the Lilly Pulitzer’s website here.

The Lilly Pulitzer Sunshine Sale happens on a bi-annual basis, typically with a sale in early January (happened earlier this year) and early-mid September. Based on past years, the Lilly Pulitzer Sunshine Sale happens in January within 10 days from New Years’ Day and September usually the week following Labor Day weekend. Usually, the Sunshine Sale starts in both corporate and signature stores 1-2 days before the sale hits the web. Throughout the year, Lilly Pulitzer also has a variety of mini pop-up sales and usually offers Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals alongside their signature gifts with purchase with a minimum spend. My biggest piece of advice is to join one of the many Lilly Pulitzer lovers Facebook groups for community events and the latest scoop on sales (I LOVE and am apart of Styling My Lilly, Lilly Con! ‘The Pink Retreat’, Lilly in the City! Event Group Only, and Lilly Pulitzer Lovers- Chat Only). From years’ past, it is estimated that the Lilly Pulitzer Sunshine Sale will start in-stores the weekend following Labor Day weekend and online the following Monday-Tuesday/Wednesday. Nevertheless, things can always change, so stay tuned!!

Sunshine Sale Tips

If you don’t know, the Lilly Pulitzer Sunshine Sale (formerly known as the After Party Sale) is Lilly Pulitzer’s biannual sale. It typically happens every January and September for only A FEW DAYS. Lilly Pulitzer does not have a sale section on their website (only in stores which can be hit or miss) which is something unique about the brand, making their sales SO MUCH more exciting and special. It is primarily online and has been in recent years due to COVID-19, yet many Lilly Pulitzer boutiques and Signature Stores do offer early access over the weekends in stores before the sale launches online (in this case, sales started showing up in both flagship and Signature Stores the day after Christmas!). Many of Lilly Pulitzer’s Signature Stores and Zappos (sometimes Belk, too!) offer sales online (those that have websites, though) starting at midnight the day of, so definitely stay up for that! Other Signature Stores offer shipping at a flat fee when you call their storefront during the duration of the sale to purchase – THIS can be a great way to purchase from a Signature Store (which ALL are small businesses) while sometimes *EVEN* getting a product you wanted from the sale which could be out of stock online before you get a chance to shop.

While I won’t dedicate this blog post to writing a bunch of tips about the Sunshine Sale, I will share some blog posts that I wrote in years past that include TONS of Sunshine Sale tips that are still pretty relevant to this day! I will say, though, that my biggest piece of advice is to be open-minded about what may be in the sale. I know many people who have made lists for the things that they want in the Sunshine Sale, which can either be a good or bad thing. I have also seen people being given the wrong package during the Sunshine Sale (especially in September 2022 – tons of complaints on Lilly Lovers Facebook groups!) so BEWARE and MINDFUL. Reflections

Getting a little bit personal over here, BUTTTTTT … Heading into 2025 after a rough Summer 2024 due to a family emergency, I am extremely grateful, thankful, and blessed to be able to spend this Summer with those that I love and to still have them in my life. This past year brought a lot of chaos and uncertainty within my own family health-wise, and I am grateful that we are all still here. Summer 2024 taught me that life is short and to enjoy our lives while we are here, no matter the year or season or what may be going on in our lives. We only live once and we may as well enjoy it. Hence, I am so blessed to be in calmer waters and to remain so in Summer 2025 and beyond. This Summer 2025, I am also going on a few lovely getaways (mentioned here) including a late-Summer escape to Italy, all of which will include those that I love. I will also be enjoying some time back at the homestead decorating my house and working on some soon to-be-announced things that I CANNOT WAIT to share with YOU. Now, enough of my soap box and cheers to Summer 2025 spent in Lilly Pulitzer!

Why I Love Finding Brands Like Lilly Pulitzer

If you know me, you know that I LOVE Lilly Pulitzer! In fact, Lilly Pulitzer is my favorite fashion designer and has been for over a decade. Throughout my college years (see my apartment from those days here), I was proudly known as “the Lilly girl” and pretty much exclusively wore that brand. However, there are so many incredible brands like Lilly Pulitzer to become acquainted with and support, too. Although I do LOVE Lilly Pulitzer and still purchase Lilly Pulitzer products and clothing, I also LOVE supporting brands like Lilly Pulitzer. There are so many incredible brands out there to support, many of which are women-owned or family-owned and have incredible stories and reasons behind them. It is worth mentioning that Lilly Pulitzer’s price point can cost a pretty penny at times, which makes it unattainable to some. What I Wore Out Of Office – May 2025

As previously mentioned in my work outfits blog post for this month (here), May 2025 was filled with plenty of showers here in the Washington, DC area! Nevertheless, I found myself enjoying more cozy nights in than out this past month. At the same time, I have been striving to savor my weeknights in as opposed to going out on the town with a few exceptions here and there. I find this balance between staying in and going out to be great for my mental health as well as my overall wellness.
