What I Wore To Work – November 2024

November work-wise, while a slower month than usual (it is typically the case in the work that I do!), definitely had a few professional highs. A successful work event kicked off my November working month and a few successful accolades in my day-to-day working world closed it out. At the same time, I was able to take two trips this month (hence the lesser volume of work outfits in this post!) to New York City for some early November Christmas cheer (here) and to Toronto to see Taylor Swift perform on her Eras Tour (!!!!) and *of course* do some sightseeing (more to come on this trip!). I feel SO fortunate that professionally, I was able to take some time off this month but also accomplish some things on the work front.

Many of y’all over on Instagram (let’s be friends @_thepinkchickadee) were asking about some of the pieces that I styled! I actually thrift A LOT including many of my name brand pieces (!!!) and would LOVE to share more about my thrifting experiences and journey shopping secondhand in the coming months with y’all. Overall, I encourage y’all to shop sustainably to both save a bit of cash and help out the planet, too.

What I Wore to Work – October 2024

October was truly October-ing for me this October 2024! Indeed, weather-wise this October had some warm and cooler days and has been much more refreshing than the swamp of a Summer that is typical for the Washington, DC area. There’s nothing super new or significant professionally for October 2024, but nevertheless, I am plugging away (as my Papa says!) and am making strides in my career for the future. Through it all though, I have enjoyed the cooler temperatures, time with loved ones, and the excitement towards a lighter workload as the holidays approach (my industry is super quiet during the last two months of the year!).

On my Instagram (let’s be friends @_thepinkchickadee), I have been sharing ALLL about what I like to call Fall fashion-wise … Pink Fall! I have LOVED here and there getting to style fun outfits with my favorite color PINK. One of the things that disappoints me a bit about Fall is the societal expectation to put away the bright colors from Summer and get out the darker colors for Fall. Fall and Winter and even Spring doesn’t mean we do not have to wear our favorite bright colored pieces. SO, Happy PINK FALL!

My Most Worn & Raved About Skirt

Funny enough, when I ordered my gold pleated skirt via a J Crew Factory sale as an impulse buy, I *never* expected that it would become one of my most coveted pieces in my closet. At the time, I thought welllll it’ll get some use, but little did I know at the time …. Anyhow, this skirt of mine, which is currently out of stock on the J Crew Factory website, has become a FAVORITE of mine and so much so that every time I wear it (which is almost weekly now!) I get a compliment (or two!) on it, whether in an outfit of the day story over on my Instagram (let’s be friends @_thepinkchickadee) or in real life. Needless to say, this gold pleated impulse buy skirt has been indeed a splendid surpass nevertheless!

Ironically, I fell in love with the pleated skirt back in 2021 when I was looking at moving back to the Washington, DC area and saw some of the local bloggers and content creators there wearing the pleated skirt. Whether they worked on Capitol Hill, in government/government contracting, or for one of the many PR firms in the area, *everyone* was wearing the pleated skirt (or at least to my eyes from afar via Instagram stalking in my final North Carolina college days!). I LOVED the poses and versatility of the pleated skirt alongside its glamorous feel for an ordinary office day. As many of us know, Washington, DC gets a bad reputation for its lack of fashionable people. However, I have found the Washington, DC area to have several stylish residents, including the many content creators and bloggers that I looked up to (and still do!) sporting those pleated skirts.

To this *very* day, I still adore the pleated skirt. Hence, my regular occurrences of sporting my only one pretty frequently. Whether for workwear, which is typical for me, or for travel as I wore it on my solo trip to Ireland earlier this year and plan to pack it for upcoming travels of mine as well or for a local day with friends/family, this skirt of mine can be styled for IT ALL! What I LOVE about the gold color is its versatility to be worn all year-round. I definitely will be purchasing another pleated skirt at some point likely in another neutral color (which, yes, Iinclude navy in that list!) or perhaps my signature color … PINK. Stay tuned friends!

One of the things that I have LOVED the most is the consistent love I have received whenever I put on this skirt. Truly, I have NEVER seen so many compliments on just one piece in my closet than this skirt of mine. To my followers and friends on Instagram and beyond, THANK YOU!

Although my exact gold pleated skirt is no longer in stock, I have linked a few similar styles below:

Here’s to more memories and adventures made in my most favorited skirt!

The Softest Sweater I Own!

Personally, I am a sucker for a fun seasonal outing, NO MATTER the season! This Fall, I have adored getting to visit ALLL the pumpkin patches!!! And, over the recent long October weekend, my friends and I enjoyed a lovely outing to Reston Farm Garden Market. The day we went was such a breath of fresh crisp Fall air and truly an introduction to the incoming cooler weather days. The best part?! I had the softest sweater to wear to enjoy the day!

My sweater *indeed* lowkey reminds me of a candy cane, but doesn’t scream Christmas which means I can wear it throughout ALLL the Winter months and not just during the holidays. I loved getting to style it with a vintage skirt that I purchased for $2.50 at the thrift store the day before, some vintage family pearls, my Tuckernuck sunnies, and my Longchamp Le Pilage tote that I’ve had for 10+ years. Not to mention, this sweater is EXTREMELY soft and cozy and not itchy like other sweaters I own. It feels SOOO comfortable and makes me feel as if I’m wearing pajamas ALL DAY while out and about. The best part?!?! It retails for under $30 on Amazon, comes in several colors, and is size-inclusive. A win, win!!!

Alongside enjoying the moments at the pumpkin patch all warm and cozied up, I also LOVED getting to take some photos of the gorgeous Fall festival atmosphere. Reston Farm Garden Market hosted a small, yet mighty Fall Festival for ALL to enjoy over the long October Indigenous People’s Day weekend. The pumpkins of ALL shapes and sizes truly remind me of the beauty in uniqueness and diversity within the produce that we eat and us to decorate with. We also rode the ADORABLE onsite mini train around the grounds and truly got to be a kid again for a hot few minutes. Needless to say, it was such a great time with friends on a lovely Fall day!

A special thank you to Ecowish for sponsoring today’s blog post. Please note that all opinions are my own.

Florals for Fall + A Pumpkin Patch Visit!

I am a sucker for ANYTHING floral! And, personally, I have a hard time giving up Spring and Summer styles for Fall styles, especially, when the Fall styles are typically anything BUT bright and floral. BUT, who says that floral can’t be for Fall?!?! Definitely NOT me and clearly not others either!

*Disclaimer: Please note that this post contains affiliate links, which means that if you purchase through one of my links, then I will receive a small commission. This commission is at no extra cost to you. Additionally, this post is sponsored, and all opinions are my own.*

Over the years since becoming a J Crew Factory fanatic, I have come to notice that the preppy fashion brand is ALWAYS serving up some fun Fall floral merchandise year after year. I am a firm believer that there is ALWAYS an opportunity to express gratitude and find joy in each physical season of the year and season of life. Nevertheless, these unique floral prints make me get excited for Fall and bring me SO MUCH JOY, as I embrace the cooler temperatures in the air.

My J Crew Factory dress (alongside others!) is currently on clearance (!!!!). Shop it here!

To further embrace the Fall season, Papa and I decided to visit a local-to-us produce shop: Nalls Produce. Nalls Produce has been serving the Northern Virginia community since 1961, carrying local produce, plants, jams, and seasonal items (including their signature Fall Pumpkin Hill!) alongside an onsite …. PIG for visitors and shoppers to get to know! Papa and I have made visiting Nalls Produce during the Fall season an annual tradition. This time around, we brought my camera to snap several photos and picked up some jams, mums, and pumpkins because Tis the Season! Needless to say, I have adored our Nalls Produce Fall tradition and look forward to it next year (or maybe a second time this year!).

What I Wore to Work – September 2024

Transitional from Summer to Fall and out with the old and in with the new is how I felt this past month. The September 2024 work month fashion wise and professionally has definitely evolved with the change of seasons in a few ways. While I won’t get into too much details, I have truly enjoyed getting to style my work outfits as the weather changes. To kick off September 2024, I spent the first week in Hawaii where I had an incredible time exploring pretty much all of the island of Oahu in its true beauty as well as a bit of the island of Maui. And, to close out September 2024, in the Washington, DC area, we experienced several rainy days to kick off Fall 2024. Truly, I still cannot believe as I am writing this on September 30, 2024 that on September 1, 2024 I was in Hawaii – it feels like a CENTURY ago!

As the seasons change and I am striving to embrace the Fall season, I am also focusing on learning to set boundaries and take care of me. As much as I despise slowing down and being told to do so (thank you to those who did in my community!), it is still a blessing to be able to take a step back, as I am starting to learn to do. Even if that means one less event or one less trip, being able to do what I need to do and want to achieve can only be done if I and others, too, care for ourselves first.

3 Affordable Fall Pieces from Amazon

Happy Fall y’all!!! Recently, I have had the amazing opportunity of working with a few different Amazon shops. While I am a semi-frequent Amazon fashion shopper on my own (I plan to share more of my favorite finds here soon!), I have found Amazon fashion finds to be some of my favorites in their quality and price point. So, today, I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite Fall fashion finds brought to you by … Amazon!

*Disclaimer: Please note that this post contains affiliate links, which means that if you purchase through one of my links, then I will receive a small commission. This commission is at no extra cost to you. Additionally, this post is sponsored, and all opinions are my own.*

One thing that I LOVE about Amazon finds is the variety of colors and sometimes even variations in each style. I also love the size inclusivity of several Amazon pieces, too. Truly, there is something for everybody! At the same time, I LOVE the fact that I can simply order what I like and can receive it in the mail just a few days (if not sooner!) later. And, the return policies are pretty great and easy. Needless to say, Amazon is such a convenient way to order and shop styles I love at an affordable price point and that is accessible for all.

Now for some adorable Fall pieces!

Chunky Knit Cardigan

From Amazon’s shop Larace, this chunky knit long cardigan with pockets is SOOO comfortable and literally perfect for lounging days. Just like much of Amazon’s clothing items, this cardigan comes in several different colors and is size-inclusive as well (which we LOVE!). I LOVE the versatility of this cardigan as well as how comfortable it is (and not itchy either!). Use my unique discount code “1010katie10” for any color of this unique cardigan style *with pockets*!

Sleeveless Dress

Also from the lovely Amazon shop Larace, this ultra-comfortable purple button sleeveless dress is a keeper. I LOVE the comfort of Larace’s dresses and tunics (which I own a few of!) as they’re lightweight, ultra-soft, and of course at a great price point and comes in a variety of colors/prints. Use my unique discount  code “15IMPLRB” for 15% off your order of this unique style in all colors/prints!

2 Piece Lounge Set

From the shop Pink Queen, I am LITERALLY obsessed with this 2 piece lounge set. It is SOO soft and comfortable. I literally could LIVE in this lounge set. These are so trendy right now and seriously perfect for work from home days or cozy lazy Fall/Winter days at home. Like all of the other Amazon pieces mentioned, this lounge set comes in a striped print in several other colors. Definitely a great investment for Fall/Winter!

With my recent Amazon fashion obsession, I have come to LOVE the variety, accessibility, inclusivity, affordability, and convenience of ordering some pieces from there. I will definitely be sharing more pieces from Amazon (and other places!) with y’all, too!

Finally Feeling Fall

Happy Fall 2024! Personally, I had a tough transition into the Fall 2024 season as I’ve shared on my Instagram (follow me @_thepinkchickadee) which is probably a first for me. However, to kick off Day 1 of Fall 2024, I blasted a Fall movie marathon thanks to the Hallmark Channel, decorated for Fall around my apartment, walked my dog Rosie in a Fall outfit (Hunter Boots crushing on a few leaves on trails included!!!), lit some Fall-scented candles, and cozied up in a Fall-themed pajama set. Now, I am officially excited to kick off Fall 2024! I am finally feeling Fall y’all!!!

Let’s just say that Summer 2024 was not an easy one for me. While I won’t get into the details of what all went down, I will say that as Fall approached, I was pretty disappointed to let Summer go. I was REALLY sad to see my favorite season of the year go without much time to enjoy it (with the exception of two GREAT trips that I still cherish memories from – one to the Midwest to visit my best friend Lindsay and another to Hawaii to visit my friend Maxwell with Bryn – alongside some special memories made close to home). When I got back from Hawaii, it started to hit me that Summer was *literally* slipping through my fingers as if I was cueing the popular song from Mamma Mia! And I felt sad to see a change. However, through it all though, I have finally come to accept that Fall is near and am … *finally* feeling Fall!!!

With the gateway to Fall comes the gateway to the holiday season aka a FAVORITE season of mine. I LOVE how Fall brings people together in the midst of pumpkin patches, pumpkin spiced lattes, and pumpkin decorations GALORE amongst many other Fall things. I adore the Fall season (and this Summer-Fall transition is unusual for me hence the initial disappointment!). I am a HUGE pumpkin spiced latte fan and find joy in enjoying a daily pumpkin-flavored morning coffee and an *occasional* PSL run to Starbucks. I LOVE the feeling of crushing leaves on my feet as I walk my dog Rosie. I take JOY in seeing decorations to commemorate the Fall season at every turn. And, I cherish the excitement that others have with the joy Fall brings to us all.

I strive to find joy in all of the seasons of the year. At the end of the day, we only get 1 Fall per year. That is 18 Falls in our childhood and 10 Falls per decade following our childhood. As crazy as it sounds, we only have a number of Falls in our lives (whether a big or small number). We must take the time to enjoy and savor the Fall moments in our lives. Just like the Summers we cherish with lasting memories and longer days of sunlight, we must do the same with the Falls that we have. While the days of sunlight may be shorter, the memories we make can be cherished just as much. We must enjoy the pumpkin patches, the Fall festivals, the Hallmark Channel movies, the candles, and *even* a pumpkin spiced latte. I hope YOU find the joy in all of the seasons, including Fall, too!

For now, I will be enjoying wearing my Hunter Boots again on repeat while the leaves crush on my feet with a pumpkin spiced latte in hand and a breath of that crisp Fall air. Wherever you are this Fall season, I hope YOU can find that joy and love for the season in front of us. Indeed, we can make it a GREAT one if we want to!

What I Wore to Work – November 2023

I don’t know WHAT it is about November, BUT this has been the month of *none other than* leggings and loungewear pretty much, well, unless I had to go into the office! I am such a dress girly and have ALWAYS been someone who prefers dresses and skirts over pants, however, November 2023 has pretty much been just the opposite – LOL! November 2023 has been a busy month for me work-wise, as I kicked off the month with classes for a training for a certification at work and networking events in the office alongside my November 2023 Ignite Young Professionals class in Arlington and then ended the month hosting my best friends Shivani and Lindsay with some sightseeing and nights on the town in between and *of course* the Thanksgiving holiday in between it all. Needless to say, November 2023 was chaotic professionally, but SO needed for the soul in terms of me deciding to take most of the Thanksgiving week off to spend with family and friends and recharge.

Likely, my loungewear and pants obsession (something I NEVER thought I’d say!!!) came about via having such a busy month and wanting to be comfortable when at home. It is also likely due to the fact that the temperatures here in the Washington, DC area are getting chilly, too. I have LOVED the crisp Fall weather of November, especially as I could admire the foliage when driving to professional development-related events throughout this season. I think it is SO important to be able to enjoy every season of life, whether it be climate-based or a different phase of life. There is ALWAYS something good to find in this world, and I think professionally for me that November 2023 has been something pretty great.

What I Wore to Work – October 2023

From feeling like Summer to feeling like Winter to everything in between, weather-wise, October 2023 truly was the perfect definition of a typical Washington, DC Fall (if you know, you know!). And, in my professional life, A LOT of excitement has occurred (!!!!) from getting an unexpected promotion to working on some very exciting tasks to going back to the classroom to starting my first-ever professional certification and *even* speaking at a conference in Washington, DC in between it all, October 2023 has been one of THE MOST exciting professional months for me. Personally, October 2023 has sucked when it came to allergies and feeling perhaps under the weather more than usual. I definitely chose leggings and skorts *even with a cute and maybe snazzy top* over a dress and likely will continue to do so this Fall/Winter season! Anyhow, with the transition from warmer temperatures to cooler ones, I am very excited to be able to style some Fall/Winter pieces from within my own closet.

I think one of the biggest themes within my fashion choices this October 2023 is how much I LOVE choosing comfort over anything else. And, yes, there IS a benefit to comfort when working from home. BUT, I can also dress stylish and make comfortable feel confident and fun, too. Comfort is MORE than just a pair of sweatpants and a fuzzy robe (HOWEVER, that is a great way to snuggle up in these chilly temperatures, too!). I have definitely found myself enjoying hibernating, too, as it gets cooler which I think leads to why I’m often opting for leggings. We shall see how I progress over the rest of the Fall/Winter season, though! And, as it appears in the most recent Washington, DC news, it will be a snowy snowy snowy Winter (!!!!), which may make for some ultra-stylish and fun photos.
