Meet Katie

Hello & Welcome to The Pink Chickadee! My name is Katie and I am a full-time preppy fashion and Grand millennial travel blogger based in the Washington, DC area who is always down for a good time, whether it be a happy hour at-home or a happy hour halfway across the world.

My pillars of content include:

Want to create something GREAT together?! I LOVE working with brands to create content that resonates with my audience and your audience, alike. Please see my Work With Me page for more information.

Now, a bit about me & my journey as a blogger!

I started my blog on January 15, 2020 in the middle of my college years when I realized I wanted to create something of my own while being known as “the Lilly girl” on my college campus for my love of Lilly Pulitzer. 6 weeks after I clicked “post” for the *very* first time on this website, the COVID-19 pandemic flipped our world upside down. I found myself as a then-college Junior uprooting the remainder of my college experience to adapt to our changing world filled then with tons of uncertainty. During those crazy times, I poured all of my energy (and lots of glasses of wine on my couch!) into The Pink Chickadee. I independently re-coded this page, starting creating content, and turned this page into my favorite hobby. While social distancing in our college apartments, my best friends Hannah and Alanna spent so many hours with me shooting photos, content, and creating so much love into this platform. The memories I made with Hannah and Alanna especially during the pandemic are those that I still cherish to this day, as we all now currently live in different cities (we still talk everyday though via our very active group texts!!).

In May 2021, I became one degree hotter and graduated from Meredith College with a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics with minors in Data Science, Statistics, and Website Development and Honors. Within a mere 36 hours, I found myself with a college degree and living in a new city – Washington, DC by way of Northern Virginia aka my dream post-grad move! At the same time, I adopted my Shepherd-Chihuahua mix Rosie with my Papa whom I live with, and I started a job and co-lead my company’s Women in Data Community of Practice, where I planned several company-wide events, spoke at company-sponsored panels and conferences, and got to engage with several of my fellow coworkers within my company, whether entry-level or senior-level. In all of my spare time, I found myself falling in love with my brand-new city and everything to do and see, visiting my friends living all across the country on the weekends, and *of course* blogging about it all alongside my favorite fashion finds on The Pink Chickadee.

April 2024 was a pivotal month for me personally – I took my first-ever solo trip to .. Ireland! I had been fortunate enough growing up and throughout college to travel abroad and study abroad on multiple occasions. However, I truly found myself falling in love with travel abroad especially solo travel in a way that I hadn’t. Since that first solo trip abroad, I have traveled to Portugal, Italy, and New York City solo and don’t have any plans of stopping my solo travels anytime soon.

Flash-forward to today and I am a full-time preppy fashion and Grand millennial travel blogger who LOVES sharing all-things preppy fashion and Grand millennial travel, whether it be via sharing my daily outfits, decorating or Happy home, or the details of my latest adventure whether it be locally, within the United States, or abroad. One of my biggest passions is to bring people together, and I find myself hosting my friends and family at my Happy home on several occasions or through reuniting with my long distance best friends across the world. Through it all, I truly love getting to inspire you my reader – whether it be to find a new preppy brand or find that you love, book your next grand millennial getaway, or cultivate joy in whatever stage of life you may be in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where did The Pink Chickadee come from?

Until she was eight years old, Katie lived in Pennington, New Jersey where she would always see and hear Black Capped Chickadee’s outside of my window. The sound and beauty of the Black Capped Chickadee only enhanced her obsession for the bird, and, as previously mentioned, she has always had an obsession with the color pink. As someone who is consistently the brightest of the bunch, Katie found The Pink Chickadee to be perfectly fitting!
