Interview with Holly of Glitter & Daisies

Ever since I started my platform here at The Pink Chickadee, I have LOVED getting to interview several women and men, all of which I have known personally and mostly from my college. I am so excited to expand my interviews beyond my little friend and college bubble in this world. Today, I am interviewing the lovely and ultra-talented friend of mine – Holly! Holly runs a Disney small business known as Glitter & Daisies (linked here) you can also follow Holly @glitteranddaisiescastle on Instagram, where she designs the most beautiful Disney ears and gives some of the proceeds to the American Cancer Society (only the BEST way to spread some Disney cheer!!!). You can also use my code PINK10 to get 10% off your purchase on anything on her site. Now, let’s learn more about the amazing Holly!!

Tell me a bit about yourself!

I’m Holly, I love all things pink, glitter and floral. My favorite animal is a corgi. I am a huge romantic comedy movie fan. My favorite TV show is Parks and Recreation. I’m 27 and still figuring out this adult thing. I love to craft and spend time with friends and family. 🙂

When did your Disney obsession begin?

My Disney obsession started as long as I have existed honestly. A lot of my childhood was spent watching Disney animated movies and watching Disney channel with my dad. I remember  when Lizzie McGuire was airing live on TV. My dad and I used to watch the show together sitting in his favorite recliner chair. My bedroom was Little Mermaid themed growing up, I had the bedding set and a rug, I felt like the coolest kid. I remember getting so excited for all the new DCOM’s (Disney Channel Original Movies) to air. As I got older I still felt connected to Disney and  was fortunate in high school to star in my high school’s musicals of Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. When I went to graduate school to pursue my master’s degree I made a really good friend who also loved Disney! During the pandemic I was able to have more time at home in the evenings since I was no longer commuting to the office and was able to really dive deep into Disney movies I hadn’t seen in a really long time.

Who is your favorite Disney Princess and/or Disney character?

My very first favorite Disney princess was Ariel. The Little Mermaid was my absolute favorite when I was growing up. When I was in high school the movie Tangled came out and I instantly fell in love with Rapunzel’s personality and her independence. So Ariel and Rapunzel both have a special place in my heart!

Tell me a bit about Glitter & Daisies?!

Glitter and Daisies started out as a fashion instagram during my first semester of graduate school. I was in a new city and didn’t know anyone, so I wanted to explore my passion for fashion and started an instagram page! I still utilize my fashion instagram but have shifted my focus more now on the Glitter and Daisies brand within the Disney community.

So, what made you want to start Glitter & Daisies?

I have honestly always wanted to start a business. During the pandemic I needed a creative outlet and I started making Disney ears. At first it was just a fun little project but then I fell in love with the idea of sharing my ear designs with others and seeing them worn in the parks. So I pulled together my resources and started my business!

Tell me a bit about some of the designs that you’ve made. What’s been your favorite of the bunch to design?

I feel like every time I make a new design it becomes my favorite! At this point in time my favorite is a pair I called Rapunzel’s Glow. They really look like pure joy and sunshine to me. I have a pair that was my original favorite and part of my original line up from when I launched my shop celebrating the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. That pair is so special to me. I included glittery depictions of Cinderella Castle, little pom poms on the trim and this beautiful blue and purple iridescent fabric.

I know you have donated some of your profits to the American Cancer Society. I think that is inspiring! What inspired you to do just that?

I have always really appreciated when brands or companies take the time to honor important causes. I know as a consumer that’s something that I really value when I can shop for things I love and support a good cause in the process. I already had this pink ear design called Aurora’s Crown and October is such an important month because it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The pieces really just fell into place and the idea clicked! I researched organizations that had a positive reputation in where their funds go to and how they help breast cancer patients and survivors. Obviously I am not a huge corporation, but if I can use my shop to help support such an important cause then I want to do what I can.

What were some of the first steps you took to make your dreams of opening Glitter & Daisies a reality?

I had to do a lot of research into how to start a business. My background is in mental health counseling, so I have zero experience when it comes to actually making a business come to life. I am fortunate that a really good friend of mine from college is a CPA so one night I had a long talk with her about steps I needed to take to make it official and obtaining my business license. If anyone out there is considering starting a business, google is your friend. There are so many amazing step by step guides to help you with filing for your business license and knowing how to make a website.

Running a small business isn’t easy for anybody. I know you made a super fun Instagram Reels sharing the many roles that you take on for Glitter & Daisies. Can you share a bit about what some of those are for those that may not know what a small business may entail?

When you run a small business, especially at first, you may not really have a staff. In my case, I was starting this business from my apartment. I do almost everything in the business myself. I make the ears, buy the inventory, ship the orders, manage the website, do the social media marketing. It can be a lot, but I have been able to learn so much and really appreciate the work it takes to have a business. My boyfriend helped me make my website and he designed my logo because he has graphic design skills. I am definitely happy to have support!

We all know that commitment is key when running a small business or any side hustle. How do you stay motivated to keep hustlin’ even when you feel as if you need a break?

One thing I have learned is it’s okay to take a break. Some days you are just not in the right headspace to go film videos or take photos and that is okay! Burnout is a very real thing and it can strike at any time. On days where I maybe feel less motivated, I try not to overload myself. On a day to day basis I write down what I call my daily intentions. It’s a to do list, but I call them intentions because these are things I want to view as intentional and meaningful to me. I try to have at least 5 things on a daily list. Some days that includes working on orders, other days it is filming videos for Instagram and Tiktok. On days where it is more of a struggle I get done what I am able to, but I give myself the grace to allow some things to remain on the list for tomorrow. I also remind myself that I started this business as a fun creative outlet. I love to look at pictures and videos I receive from customers because it reframes my focus and brings me so much joy.

Also, on the note of Instagram Reels and Tik Tok, you create some of the most fun content when it comes to those two things! What is some advice that you have for others who are struggling with creating Reels and Tik Tok’s?

Oh I love this question! At first I was really hesitant with reels and Tiktok. But my best advice is to lean into it and allow yourself to have fun! Some of my favorite videos and most popular ones on my pages are ones where I let loose and let my personality show. I am generally a really happy person who loves to make people laugh and if I can bring that to a video, even better! Start small, don’t feel like you have to go out and film 15 videos tomorrow. Try just working on a small video and brainstorming ideas that sound fun to you. You absolutely do not have to do dancing videos! I know some people are super intimidated by them, and even I am at times. I use the app InShot to edit all my videos, it is such a helpful tool and it’s free!

What has been your favorite Instagram Reels/Tik Tok that you have made?

I really love the styling my ears series I have done. It combines two of my passions, Disney and fashion! It also reminds me of where I started since my brand began by starting a fashion blog. I also really loved the one I did based off the Full House theme song where you show the different roles in your business.

What is one thing that you didn’t expect to learn from running Glitter & Daisies?

Hmmm, honestly learning TikTok! I didn’t utilize Tiktok at all until I started this business. So I have had to learn how to use it, market within it and growing an audience there, which is pretty different from Instagram. Social media marketing in general can be tough to navigate but is such a necessary means of growing your brand, so I have been learning and growing my way of reaching people.

Many people dream of starting their own side hustle, including a small business. Today’s Instagram Algorithm makes it rough for new small businesses to garner visibility. What has helped you to stay afloat and still get some great visibility for Glitter & Daisies?

Oh the algorithm…what a time I have had fooling with it. Instagram is tough and it can be really defeating at times if I’m being honest. That’s just the nature of the algorithm. Making more video content has been helpful as well as focusing on building connections with other Disney creators. I have made some really sweet friends through Instagram and when you make those connections, those people will show up for you. I have recently been focusing more on audience engagement through stories as well because that’s a space where people can get to know you on a more personal level. Sharing small bits of your daily life (and only as much as you feel comfortable sharing) can help them to see the person behind the brand and the more raw moments of your life. Posting questions boxes, polls, and asking them questions helps them to feel important too!

I know you’ve started supporting others within your Disney niche on social media via engagement, whether it be influencers or other fellow small business owners. How has that benefitted you and your business?

It’s important to build connections. It’s similar to the traditional business world where networking is important, the same goes for social media. When you start engaging with other creators, you have the opportunity to get to know a real person. I have been able to meet some truly fabulous people through my business in the last few months. When you build connections, you’re building trust as well. And when people trust you, they will show up for you by engaging on your content and can even work with you on partnerships. It’s also been really nice to get to know other Disney creators because I unfortunately do not live close to the parks. So I am not one of those people who can go every week. I’ve had people that I have gotten to know who have offered to take product photos for me in the parks when I am not able to be there. I am always so appreciative when people offer to do something like that because they don’t have to. They don’t owe that to me. But they want to help me out and I am always blown away by the support from people I haven’t gotten to meet in person yet.

There are many people who want to start their own small business solely for the profits. But, we both know there’s so much more to it than money. It involves passion and I can see it in your creations and social media content! What would you say to someone who is looking to start their own small business?

I would definitely say don’t start one just for profit. It takes a lot of work to make a business profitable. Sometimes it can take months to years before you reach a place where you are really profitable. One thing I have had to learn is patience. I have all these goals and big dreams, but it doesn’t happen overnight. You really have to work for it and that takes time. And I would also say that it is easy to get discouraged, but if it’s something you really want, hang in there! And have fun with it too, you want to do this for a reason and you need to enjoy it!

What are some of your goals for Glitter & Daisies in 2022 (that you don’t mind sharing!)?

Oh this is a fun one! In 2022 I would love to expand my Princess Series collection. I am hoping to potentially add a few new products (besides ears) to the shop as well. And a goal I have is to reach different locations across the country. One of my goal states is California! This may not happen in 2022, but I would also love to someday do a pop up of my shop. That may take more planning than I can do in 2022, but definitely a future goal of mine!

So, I know you are going to Disney World in 2022! What are you most looking forward to doing?

Oh my gosh, everything!! I am going to celebrate my 7 year dating anniversary with my boyfriend. We have never been to Disney together so I am really excited to experience this with him. We were able to snag a reservation at Cinderella’s Royal Table and I am soooo excited to get to eat there! As far as attraction wise, I am super stoked to get to ride Slinky Dog Dash, it’ll be our first time getting to ride it! And honestly just excited to be at Disney. It’s such a magical place and it’ll be nice to just be there.

I also know you participate in virtual runDisney events. Tell us a little bit about that!

So back in my high school days I used to run cross country. I kept up running throughout college just not on a team. Once I got into full on adulthood I had a harder time with maintaining work, social life and having down time after work to relax. I wanted to get back into an exercise routine once I was working from home because I really had the time to make it a priority. Then I learned runDisney was doing virtual races and I jumped at the opportunity! What’s great about it is you have the ability to do this on your own time, it’s not something where you have to do it on a certain day. So you could space it out over multiple days or do it all at once depending on your preference. And it’s nice to still feel a part of the magic even if you aren’t able to attend the races in person. Plus you get a super cool medal and I just can’t pass that up! 🙂

Lastly, what are some ways that others can support small businesses like yours and others that they love?

Engagement on social media is huge to help businesses be seen, especially when bigger brands tend to purchase ads and show up more often in people’s feeds. Sharing posts and videos is a free way to help businesses reach more people and show your appreciation for the content they spend time making. Tagging friends in comments if there is a product you think they would love is also a great way to help out! And I can’t tell you how much joy it  brings to see someone appreciate the work you put into not only your product but your content. Sometimes it can take hours to get the right photos or videos and edit them. Every little like or comment means the world! 🙂

Holly is extremely wise beyond her years. As she shows off her Disney ears, I cannot wait to see where Glitter & Daisies takes her in the many many years to come!

Guest Write: Megan & Emily of Sundae Sisters Co!

If you haven’t seen the most adorable sister duo, then look no further than Megan and Emily! Megan and Emily co-founded their own sticker line where they sell their stickers on Etsy and locally within the Raleigh-Cary area. Megan has become one of my good friends at Meredith College, she is also my best friend Laurie’s Lil Sis through Meredith’s Big Sis/Lil Sis program! I have also learned a lot about her sister Emily who has Down syndrome and is breaking barriers everyday as a person with the disability. Today, I am letting both Megan and Emily take the wheel as I will be interviewing them about their journey with Sundae Sisters Co, life as sisters, and future aspirations for their business.

Tell me a bit about yourselves!

We are Sundae Sisters Co! I (Megan) had the idea to change my old Etsy shop to better include Emily. With Covid, she did not get as much work experience through her school and was also having trouble finding a job. Individuals with special needs are already severely un-employed, but adding a global pandemic on top did not help. So I started designing stickers and Emily does all of the packaging. We started around Mid-May and have sold over 250 stickers!

Megan, I know you are currently in college. What school do you attend and what are you studying?

I am a rising Sophomore at Meredith College in Raleigh,NC and I am studying Child Development in hopes of becoming a teacher.

Emily, I know you recently just graduated from high school – congrats! What are your next steps?

I will continue packaging for Sundae Sisters Co, which I love doing. I check everyday to see if I have new orders to package. I was also recently hired as a volunteer for Esteamed Coffee in Downtown Cary,NC! I will start training this summer. I also love participating in Gigi’s Playhouse Raleigh programs such as yoga, ballet, and social skills. I am also on a competitive cheer team at Inspire Athletics, we are called the Superstars.

Share a fun fact about each of y’all!

We share this fact because we are both huge Disney fans! If you ever are going to Disney World or Disneyland, contact us for tips! Megan’s favorite rides are Everest and Flight of Passage. Emily’s favorite rides are Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Flight of Passage.

Tell me a bit about Sundae Sisters Co and the mission behind it!

Our mission is to spread happiness and kindness to others through our designs while also showing the importance of employing individuals with special needs. Many businesses don’t employ people with special needs because they don’t see all or their abilities, so we want to show people that they are valuable employees.

What made y’all choose to start Sundae Sisters Co?

I (Megan) have always loved being crafty. I already had an Etsy shop but kind of sold very random things. I also knew Emily was graduating soon and with Covid, she was going to have trouble finding a job. So I rebranded my Etsy to better include her with something she could easily ship, but also something I love to sell! It’s a win-win for both of us because we both have an outlet we enjoy within the business.

So, tell me about y’all’s design process – how do y’all brainstorm your super fun and adorable designs?!

We get a lot of requests which we love getting, please send them in! We also get lots of inspiration from social media and pictures we take. We love taking pictures of plants and different landmarks.

Speaking of designs, please tell me both of your favorite designs!!!

Megan’s favorite design right now is the Retro Van Sticker because she loves the colors! Emily loves the Lucky Few sticker which is a symbol for Down Syndrome!

Stickers from the Vaccinated Line releasing this Tuesday July 13
Stickers from the Collegiate Line releasing on July 27

I know you both work together as a team to execute both designing and sending off stickers to their new homes. How do y’all make the magic happen?!

Megan handles designing the stickers, printing (which we do in house), listing each item, and keeping everything organized. Emily is in charge of all shipping which includes writing each thank you note by hand, gathering the stickers for each order, packaging, weighing, adding the stamp, and putting it in the mailbox! She also will sometimes prep things like envelopes or supplies for our vendor events.

You both have visited local farmers markets, such as in Cary, to showcase your business. Do y’all have any dream markets that y’all want to showcase at?

There are lots of different markets in the Triangle, it’s overwhelming sometimes. We loved being at Food and Flea in Downtown Cary in June, we hope to be back a few more times this fall just in time for the holidays! We would also love to have our stickers sold in local stores in boutiques, that is something we are working on now!

Megan & Emily selling stickers at Food and Flea in Cary, North Carolina

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that y’all donate some of your profits to a different charity each month. Giving back is SO important. How does charity play a role in Sundae Sisters Co’s mission?

So many charities have benefited our family, such as North Carolina Down Syndrome Alliance, Gigi’s Playhouse Raleigh, Miracle League, Esteemed Coffee and more! We think it is so important to give back to the community as they have given to us. We are trying to donate every month as well as have a sticker that donates profits to a specific charity each month.

I am so inspired by y’all’s business! What would y’all say to someone who is looking to start their own business someday?

Just go for it! Take it slow and don’t over-invest so you don’t get in over your head. Then re-invest the money you make or a portion of it back into your business to help it grow.

Y’all are both strong advocates for inclusion and acceptance of everybody. Tell me about your experiences as advocates!

I think our parents have always instilled in us that it is important to fight for what is right and to be inclusive of everyone, no matter their walk of life. Everyone is different and that is what makes us unique individuals. Being apart of the disability community is fun and exciting, but it can also open doors to show the hard parts of having a disability. This has made us want to fight even more to share the message that everyone should be included and given the same opportunities. For example, I (Megan) was inspired by NC State’s Victory Day game that they did with Gigi’s Playhouse. It was an inclusive night where individuals with  Down Syndrome got to experience practice and a game of football with the NC State Football team. So, I created my own version of that at my High School. Inclusion events like these become a ripple effect to show others that individuals with special needs are just like everyone else, they just want to have fun and make friends!

What is in the oh-so exciting future of Sundae Sisters Co?

Well, we hope to get lots more orders. Just these past few weeks, our orders have quadrupled. We would love to do more markets and maybe have a few more friends with special needs help us. If we grow even more, we would love to have others help us with packaging so they can learn work skills too. We would also love to have our stickers available in stores, this way we could get our designs and mission out to a larger community!

Lastly, if you each could tell yourself one thing before you started Sundae Sisters Co, then what would it be?

I think we both would never have imagined it being as successful as we have been in our first month of being open. We are so thankful to each and every person who has supported us; whether it was just a like, comment, sharing us on social media, placing an order or visiting us at a market.

I cannot wait to see ALL that Megan and Emily do moving forward and I hope you do, too!

My Favorite Black-Owned Small Businesses

There is so much talent in this world, but so much of it goes unnoticed. The majority of businesses that I know of are not minority-owned. So, in honor of Black History Month, I wanted to share some of my favorite Black-owned small businesses. I have enjoyed shopping and admiring many of these small businesses’ countless amounts of extraordinary creations and I hope you will to!

  • The Tiny Tassel – founded in 2015 by Mimi Striplin, this jewelry and accessories brand is inspired by the vibrant and colorful streets of Charleston, South Carolina. Each of the pieces sold are meant to be statement pieces, and are all handmade with a classic twist (my flamingo tassel earrings were designed and handmade by Mimi, herself – she’s super sweet!!!).
  • Copper and Brass Paper – started in 2017 by mother Ariel Young who noticed the lack of diversity within the paper goods and stationary sold. Young’s passion passed along from her mother ignited her own passion for the pretty little details, like her stationary and paper goods that include the positive promotion of black people.
  • Pipcorn – began when co-founder Jeff Martin was helping his sister move apartments, only to discover a tiny bag of heirloom popcorn kernels that were the best that they had ever had. They eventually tracked down the Indiana farmer who grew it from his family’s heirloom seed stock. Now Jeff and his wife Teresa are proud minority popcorn small-businesses owners who have even appeared on Shark Tank.
  • The Chocolate Boutique – it all began with cofounder Kesha’s love for chocolate, growing up in Hershey, Pennsylvania. She, then, with her husband Dozier decided to open their own unique Chocolate Boutique in their current hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina.
  • Effie’s Paper – was created to curate lifestyle products that would co-exist with the technology existing today. This stationary and lifestyle brand sells the most adorable trendy finds AND offers discounts upon visiting their site.
  • Bespoke Binny – founder Natalie started Bespoke Binny to commemorate and remember her Ghanaian descent while living and working in London, England as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist. Natalie’s designs take on the vibrant geometric African prints that are super unique to her Ghanaian culture and showcase her talents.
  • Salt N Sprinkles – a black-owned and women-owned vegan bakery where all of the baked goods (mostly cookies) are freshly made in a home kitchen. All cookies are made ready to order or for pick up in the Los Angeles, California area, but will soon be made to ship nationwide!
  • McBride Sisters Collection – started by the McBride sisters, Robin and Andrea, who grew up living along the vines of Monterey, California and Marlborough, New Zealand. Robin and Andrea call their wines “the fun, fab, and eco-friendly SHE CAN collection,” where their also give some of their proceeds made to the SHE Can Professional Development Fund, to allow for women to break barriers and make their dreams come true.
  • Zou Xou – creates the most beautiful and comfortable stand-out flats. These flats are made to be a classic statement piece that can be worn in several scenarios for years to come.
  • The Pink Retreat – founded by my Instagram friend and fellow Lilly Pulitzer lover Tosha Williams who proudly calls herself a Mompreneur, The Pink Retreat brings Lilly Pulitzer lovers of all kinds for an annual inspiring and welcoming weekend away in Palm Beach, Florida together. Williams is now a stay-at-home mother who used to be an Art Therapist and uses her strengths in art to allow for beautiful art therapy activities while at The Pink Retreat.

It’s important to remember that Black Lives Matter today and everyday. Several Black-owned businesses go unnoticed and it is time that we recognize them for all the beauty that they bring. Happy browsing and admiring of these amazing small businesses and the works of some great black entrepreneurs!!!

The New way to sell your old Branded Gear!

**** This post is sponsored by Comeback Gear ****

Shop Comeback Gear here!

When I was in high school, I toured over 20 colleges/universities. Being the extra person that I am, I bought a branded item (typically a shirt or sweater) at practically every single school. Over my the course of my Junior and Senior years of high school, I began to get overwhelmed and even annoyed at all of the old branded college clothing that I had. Especially given that these branded college items were from schools that I ultimately decided not to attend and had no connections to beyond touring it, I became extremely annoyed with the lack of places to sell these items (most notably, Poshmark, eBay, Mercari, etc.). Luckily, there is a place where you can sell your old branded gear, whether it be college, high school, camp, or greek life. Do you have any old branded gear, from places such as camp, high school, college, or even greek life?! Well, look no further than Comeback Gear – the place that is essentially the Poshmark/eBay for your old gear!

Flash forward to Spring 2020 when we were all living in lockdown and in quarantine 24/7. Like many of us, Comeback Gear is a women-owned small business that started when people were going through their own closets and cleaning out the things that they did not need anymore, including children’s old camp gear. Like college and high school gear, camp gear struggles to sell on sites such as eBay and Poshmark. It is important to note that branded gear can be gear of all kinds sold on Comeback Gear – masks, shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, mugs, etc. Essentially, anything can be sold as long as the college/camp/team’s name is somewhere on the item. All items sold are also either brand new or gently used. So, Comeback Gear targets anyone who wants to represent a camp, college, or sports team as well as high school.

How to Buy/Sell on Comeback Gear!

If you want to either buy or sell, then you will need to sign up on the website with an email and a password. Upon confirming your email, you will be able to start listing your items and/or shop for items that you may want to buy. HOORAY!!!!

Similar to sites like Poshmark, Comeback Gear users can also promote their profile on the site on their social media pages, so that others can check out their old branded gear for their own closets! Users also have total control over the items that they sell, along with setting the price and cost of shipping.

Can Small Businesses Sell Too??

YES! Small businesses are in a great place to sell their goods to those at a particular college, camp, high school, or fraternity/sorority. Comeback Gear is an excellent place for a small business to sell old inventory that they want to sell, in order to make room for new items to be sold at a discount. Small businesses are also able to promote their business on their profile page, so that potential customers can get in touch with them. Additionally, small businesses can also use their social media pages to promote their goods being sold on Comeback Gear and bring their customers to the site.

What if my Camp/College/High School/Fraternity/Sorority/Sports Team isn’t featured on the Comeback Gear site?

If you cannot seem to find the name of the camp or college or any of the above listed in the previous question, then do not fret! Simply click the “Contact Us” button in the menu and send a message requesting that that place’s name get added to the menu – as easy as pie!

With sites like eBay, Poshmark, and Mercari in full swing, it is oh so exciting that there is finally a similar version just for college/camp/high school/Greek life items in the form of Comeback Gear! If you know me, you know that I love shopping, especially secondhand and at a great price. Most definitely check out Comeback Gear for yourself – you truly will not be disappointed!

Meredith Angel-Owned Small Businesses to Support this Holiday Season

If you know me, then you know that I LOVE my sweet Meredith College. My experience so far at Meredith has been one of the best that I could ever ask for. As I started The Pink Chickadee and grew my platform, I watched my Meredith sisters around me grow their own small businesses. There is so much beauty in seeing my Meredith sisters and I’s successes grow. I LOVE supporting small businesses and especially those that are connected to Meredith students or alumni. Today, I have rounded up several of many small businesses that are run by Meredith women!

  • From prints to stickers that are all Meredith-themed, check out MH Paper Goods. The lovely lady behind the business, Maria, and I did a giveaway in August and she is also a Woman in STEM with a sweet and creative spirit!
  • Customization from monograms to even Ruth Bader Ginsburg ornaments/key chains, look no further than Greetings of Magic! Megan, the shop owner, is one of my best friends’ Lil’s and friends of mine and she is the sweetest thing! You can also use my code thepinkchickadee for 10% off your purchase (offer valid until December 31, 2020).
  • If you’re looking for all-things handlettering and the most fun designs connected to your favorite shows, movies, and even Enneagram type, shop at Lettering By Miranda! The lovely Miranda designed The Pink Chickadee‘s logo and she did an amazing job!!!
  • For the cutest masks, wine glasses, ornaments, and the funniest apparel, check out Cassie’s Designs! Cassie is also one of my best friends and she is OH SO TALENTED!!!
  • Who doesn’t love a cute mug and especially a Meredith mug?! The sweetest Anna Haddock of The Coffee Table Goods has the cutest Meredith-themed mugs as well as an adorable Christmas-themed mug in her shop!
  • Whether it be Meredith, NC State, love stories, or all North Carolina destinations, shop everything North Carolina-oriented at Pamlico Paper Company. Liz the shop owner is the sweetest and is always showing up at local North Carolina art/craft fairs to show off her talents!
  • If you want some of the most adorable prints that you will find, then definitely check out J Hall Designs! Along with her Etsy shop which I have linked, J Hall Designs is carried at The Local Squirrel, For Your Convenience Raleigh, Southern Home & Kitchen, and Katherine Beck Gifts. I studied abroad with the shop owner Julia Hall in London back in July 2018, and she is such a sweet soul!!!
  • For the cutest Meredith-oriented stickers among other things, definitely check out Laney Logan Design Co. The shop owner Laney is super sweet!!
  • Whether it be Meredith-oriented stickers, metal prints, or even a painting, Mountain Top Photos has it all for you. The shop owner Brittney was one of my Lil’s teammates!
  • To get the most adorable pet designs from stickers to prints to even paintings, then definitely check out Ashlyn’s Art. Ashlyn’s Art is run by my sweet Lil Sis Ashlyn! To place your order, then follow her Instagram page @ashlyns_artwc.
  • Rachel Norris Art has the most beautiful handlettering and graphic designs that are North Carolina-themed, spiritual, and *of course* Meredith-themed. The shop owner Rachel was a classmate of mine and she is oh so sweet!
  • If you LOVE hand lettering like myself, then definitely follow @_letteringbylauren on Instagram to see my Meredith sister Lauren’s hand lettering projects! While this endeavor of Lauren’s is not necessarily a small business, Lauren is extremely talented just like the other ladies mentioned in this post.
  • Two of my favorite things are Meredith College and Christmas! Liza’s Lettering Co definitely embodies two of my favorite things. The shop owner Eliza is also the sweetest thing!
  • The Local Squirrel is the cutest boutique! Located in Raleigh’s vibrant Cameron Village, this sweet boutique is owned by a Meredith alumni who loves supporting small businesses. Every time I visit The Local Squirrel, I end up having a great experience and cannot wait to go back!
  • For such unique and stunning pieces of jewelry, then definitely check out Raleighwood Beads; I am OBSESSED with the nutcracker necklace I recently got from there. I actually collaborated with the shop owner Carolyne on a fundraiser and social with our classes and it was super fun!
  • To get all of your custom print and sticker needs, then check out @claireannedesign on Instagram. The shop owner Claire and I are in the same class and have done Cornhuskin’ together over the years. Like Claire, I have shared so many special memories with all of the ladies in my class!

Shopping small has always been a favorite thing of mine, specifically when it involves ladies connected to sweet Meredith College. Whether or not you attend Meredith or have any connection to the school, these lovely ladies’ businesses are definitely worth it to check out. Not only are their talents shining at Meredith College and within the Meredith community, but they are also shining beyond Meredith College.

My Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale Haul!

Let’s throw some confetti in the air because my Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale haul has arrived and I am FINALLY SHARING IT WITH Y’ALL!!! I am SO excited to have all of my finds here with me, especially super early for After Party Sale finds to arrive. Before I share my finds, I want to thank my sweet influencer friend Kristen from Kristen’s Southern Splendor and a few other Lilly loving ladies for hosting a Lilly Pulitzer gift card giveaway that I was fortunate enough to win. Without winning that exciting giveaway, this September’s sale would not have been nearly exciting for me.

For this sale, I not only shopped on Lilly Pulitzer’s website, but I also supported a few small Signature stores – Palm Avenue Raleigh, The Peppermint Palm, and The Printed Peach – as well as a few pieces off of Poshmark. Many of these pieces are back to school items and early Christmas gifts as I did get a lot of exciting finds. Additionally, I bought a few pieces when I received my $20 off coupon for shopping the After Party Sale. What can I say?! I LOVE a good deal!!!

I am SO grateful that I found some really exciting and super fun finds during this year’s After Party Sale! While I know that this sale is a lot of items, I am also very blessed to have won a giveaway and have some super great Back To School finds for my final year of college as an undergraduate. As someone who consistently strives to look for fashion finds at an affordable price, the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sales allow me to find my favorite pieces for each season at a much cheaper rate than paying full price. While we cannot have a party in-person as in the past, I’m still having a big party over my sale finds and making the best of the current situation!
