What I Wore to Work – December 2024

As y’all may already know, I share my work outfits over on my Instagram stories (let’s be friends @_thepinkchickadee) and have LOVED getting to share my day-to-day style with y’all. December working outfits definitely have a holiday twist to them! It is ALWAYS so so so fun to pull out allll of the holiday apparel this time of year. While I am a HUGE dressy girly and ADORE wearing dresses like ALLL the time especially in my work outfits, when the temperature is freezing outside, I am WAYYYY less likely to wear a dress or skirt! December 2024 was definitely spent in a lot more lounge like clothing than dressy clothing as the 2024 work year is wrapping up. I did, HOWEVER, attend an in-person work event at the tail end of my working December month and hence I had a great opportunity to style some tights for a working day – LOLLLL – which was a nice break from the typical sweats and leggings!!

December is typically pretty quiet in my working world work-wise, but this year, it was actually a more busier working month! I actually found some of the earlier Fall months like September and October to be a bit quieter. I got an exciting opportunity to lead a smaller team on my current project this December – a rare time for these opportunities but nevertheless we embrace and take it on! At the same time, I am working on generating goals for the upcoming 2025 year professionally in my 9-5 and here on this platform. And, last but not least, it is WILD that this is my last blog post where I will be sharing work outfits for 2024! I initially started sharing work outfits as a way to hold myself accountable to feeling more productive while working from home back in May 2023 and provide others with style inspiration while at it. To end 2024, I have shared over 300 work outfits since then. I am pleased to share that I will continue to share my work outfits with y’all into 2025 and beyond (!!!!), as sharing my work outfits with y’all bring me SO MUCH JOY. Enough of my soap box, but thank YOU for being here and for making work outfits fun to share!!

What I Wore to Work – March 2024

From a symposium to multiple happy hours to class to an outreach trip in Raleigh, North Carolina, March 2024 was nothing short of a busy work month! I have been running around A TON in a shorter than usual work month, however, March 2024 has been one of THE MOST rewarding months for me professionally. Although I did encounter a bit of burnout, I am oh so glad about the impact that I was able to make throughout the month (and for a few days off towards the end of the month, too!).

Alongside a busy work month of March, I ALSO enjoyed my first full month of breaking out Spring 2024 fashion. Spring fashion ALWAYS feels like such a breath of fresh air after months of Winter. I get SO SO SO excited (just like most of y’all do!) for the pastels and bright colors of Spring! And, *of course* cheers to many more Spring/Summer fashion months to come both personally and professionally (!!!).

What I Wore in Dallas, Texas

On my Instagram (follow me @_thepinkchickadee), I have been sharing A TON about my adventures in Dallas, Texas (here) celebrating one of my influencer besties Lindsay of @sunshineandstairclimbs on Instagram (GO FOLLOW HER TOO!!!!) with some of my now new fellow friends of Lindsay’s! We had A BLAST getting to celebrate Lindsay altogether AND enjoy and explore the Lonestar state aka state 25/50 for me (!!!!). Today on the blog, I’m going to be sharing ALLLL the details about what *none other than* I wore while exploring a brand-new-to-me state.

My trip to Dallas, Texas was SUCH A BLAST (!!!!!). From dining at a Valentine’s-themed restaurant to a Super Bowl party with a …. Bejeweled PINK football clutch to a glamorous shopping experience at Highland Park Village with *even* Chanel-themed Mimosas, my trip to Dallas truly gave me my Sex and the City moment. Over the years, I have admired Dallas’s fashion scene, as a preppy fashion lover who attended college in North Carolina. SO, getting to visit Dallas was such a dream AND such a blast to plan outfits for.

I regularly share content regarding what I wear each month to work (here, here, and here) and I want to share more about some of my more fun outfits, too! While many of us spend A LOT of our time at our 9-5 jobs, all of us enjoy time outside of it with our loved ones, as well. In the future, I hope to share EVEN MORE fun content surrounding what I wear when I travel AND locally for fun adventures!

What I Wore to Work – February 2024

February 2024 was SUCH A FUN (!!!!) month in regards to travel to an early Spring (and *even* Spring cleaning) to excitement on the professional front. From recovering from COVID fatigue and lingering COVID to traveling to Texas and North Carolina to transitioning my wardrobe to Spring, my February wardrobe has evolved with the changing times of the month. Peak bloom of the Washington, DC cherry blossoms is estimated for March 23-26 as the National Park Service predicts! SO, in typical Katie fashion, I brought out the Spring clothes in February and put the Fall/Winter wardrobe away!

While the holiday season was SUCH A FUN TIME for me in October-December 2023, January and early February 2024 were a bit …. Eh. I got COVID for the first time in January of this year and had a lengthy recovery. Surprisingly speaking, some excitement on the professional front brought me out of my COVID fatigue and sped up recovery. I am ALSO soooo excited that Spring is *finally* coming to the Washington, DC area! I truly miss the warmer climates and love love love Spring/Fall weather the most with its mild outdoor climates. However, as we move into March 2024, my allergies are continuing, but the excitement for Spring persists evermore.

What I Wore to Work – January 2024

January has felt like the LOOOONGEST month, both personally (more on that to come *very* soon!) AND professionally. To kick off my first work week in 2024, I spent it in Delaware at my Dad’s house with him and his Yorkie Ginger near the beach. It was SOOO nice to simply get away from the craze and hustle and bustle of Washington, DC and simply be by the beach. THEN, I came home for my first full 5-day work week and … lo and behold … Papa and I both got COVID for the first time. Needless to say, January 2024 has made me take many more sick days than anticipated this early in the year AND many more days in pajamas and sweatshirts and fuzzy robes and slippers GALORE, too. Throughout the month of January 2024, though, I have enjoyed getting to style some fun work from home outfits (some even being pajamas – LOL!) while recovering from COVID!

During this past month, I ALSO started to *finally* revamp my Shop.LTK page (here) (!!!!!) AND have been posting MANY of my daily outfits (including work outfits) with exact and similar pieces for YOU to shop. My decision to revamp my Shop.LTK page was thanks to YOU all continuously asking me where/how to shop the very pieces that I wear and share with y’all!

What I Wore to Work – December 2023

The quote for me when working this December 2023 was a TikTok turned Instagram Reels that my bestie Shivani sent me on the gram (follow me @_thepinkchickadee) was of Kim K literally saying she needs an IV containing *nothing but* caffeine – LOL! December 2023 was the season for caffeine IV’s for me. In my industry, things get REALLLY quiet during this time of year, which is SO nice. Most of us are ultra-tired and need caffeine IV’s to simply function, SO most things become “January problems”. While a pretty quiet month on the work front, I have truly enjoyed the peace and time to sit back, clock in, and enjoy time with family and friends when not clocking in (and the extra coffee, too!!).

Since December 2023 was a *very* peaceful work month for me, I spent A LOT of the month working in … loungewear! I probably drank out of more holiday-themed mugs while working this month than I wore outfits – haha!!!! Anyhow, December 2023 was a nice work month with its peace and quiet during the holiday season craze. On the same token, I also was able to generate some ideation surrounding my professional goals for 2024 – MANY of which will kickstart in January and the months following (!!!!!). Needless to say, I am ready to rest, rejuvenate, and enjoy time with loved ones, before coming back to work in full force in January 2024!

My Favorite Outfits Circa 2015-2017

I am someone that refuses to live with any regrets. I am a firm believer that everything was meant to happen the way that it is supposed to AND that whatever happens happens and shapes us into who we are today and to become. Moreover, on the other hand, one of my BIGGEST exceptions is the sole fact that I sometimes really wish that I started my blogging platform sooner. On my Instagram (follow me @_thepinkchickadee), I recently shared on my stories that I am SO excited that the circa 2012 fashion trends of peplum and statement necklaces are hitting city streets ALL across the country. My Lilly lover bestie Lorena and I were having *flashbacks* to walking through the aisles of Charming Charlie with ALL of the statement necklaces in color coordinated sections throughout the storefront. Needless to say, my nostalgia for fashion during my high school era (which were when some of my favorite fashion trends were around!!) aka 2015-2017 had me digging through some of my old photos and, hence, this blog post!

I will say, *just* like most people I know, I felt so so so much #cringeworthy feels over many of the photos that I saw via my high school years albums on Facebook. Otherwise, I feel super happy that I have some super adorable photos of some of my favorite outfits (that aren’t uber-blurry either!) from my 2015-2017 years. In high school, I LITERALLY took photos of all of my outfits that I wore, whether it be to school, church (yep – I was a big church-goer during that timeframe), travel, or outings with friends/family. I was VERY fortunate to spend many of my high school weekends shopping with friends and family via their support for my passion for fashion. One of my favorite shopping memories was going to the opening of the Topshop store at a local mall in my area and polling peers on two different white dresses I tried on (one of which I wore to be crowned Homecoming Queen in 2016!!!!) and seeing people’s interactions – I guess my blogger instincts were born in that moment 5 years before. Many of my community members during that era loved my style in high school and I am so so so glad I always remained true to myself style-wise.

A few things that still remain true to what I LOVED style-wise then and still do now:

  • Quilted vests
  • Statement necklaces
  • Jack Rogers sandals
  • Vera Bradley umbrellas
  • Hunter rain boots
  • Lilly Pulitzer
  • Peplum
  • Fur vests
  • LL Bean boots
  • Kate Spade handbags
My late grandmother sewn the patchwork fabric pants and I still have them to this very day!!
I LOVE how I paired this pom pom scarf – nothing more said here!
Honestly, my favorite part of this outfit is the Vera Bradley umbrella and my pink flamingo scarf. Not to mention, the gorgeous Prague riverfront and bridges for the backdrop.
I LOVE the Vineyard Vines-Jack Rogers-Kate Spade moment here (!!!).
This cupcake Kate Spade tote is a favorite of mine!!
My late Grandma sewn this dress, too, and I LOVE how I paired it with this blue necklace and tied a chambray button down! PERFECT for a day at The Breakers – Newport, Rhode Island.
I LOVE the purple and magenta color combination here. Nothing more to say!!
I used to LOVE this dress!! I got it at a Buffalo Exchange in New York City my Sophomore year and LOVE the pairings with the boots and my then-favorite L’Oreal lipstick (which I still have to this day!!).
I STILL have this Kate Spade clutch (it also has my monogram!!) – maybe I should get it out soon 🙂
I like to think of this maroon polka-dotted dress I got on one of my weekend shopping sprees as my “Meredith College” dress and wore it to my high school grad party, too. I LOVE this maroon and pink combination.
I remember doing a poll on my personal Instagram circa 2015 (with THE MOST cringe selfies!!) at the newest Topshop store in my area with this dress and another. I still have them both and glad I do, as this dress has a very special place in my heart (and, yes, I was Homecoming Queen and was crowned on a VERY rainy Friday night!!!).
This dress SCREAMS 2015. Nothing more to say!!
One of my FAVORITE scarves *even to this very day* is that J Crew plaid wool scarf with pom poms. The beanie I still have and got on a trip to Poland when I was 15 as it was FREEZING there.
I LOVE the wool/chiffon combination here – may need to try something similar again!!
Alas, the L’Oreal lippie makes *yet another* appearance. My skirt is a favorite of mine and I got several compliments on it when I wore it again during a big college event. Great memories!
This reversible scarf is SO SO fun! I am a HUGE fan of monogrammed bags to this very day, too!
& the J Crew pom pom scarf makes *another* appearance on a trip to Chicago.
This outfit is a little plain for me still to this very day – LOL! However, I LOVE the crystal necklace and pop of color via my Longchamp Le Pilage (which I still have!) with the navy-black combination.
Somehow, I can still manage to fit in this gorgeous Lilly Pulitzer dress!! One of my favorite trips in high school was to Vero Beach, Florida – somehow I was tan that week which is RARE for me. Aren’t the flip-flops SO fun?! I wish I still had them 🙂

One thing that reigns true to this *very* day is that I am grateful for dressing according to my heart’s very own desires. Throughout ALLL the fashion trends that come and go, one thing that remains the same is one’s own personal style and sparkle within their own wardrobe.

14 Days of Pink Recap!

If you follow me on Instagram (follow me @_thepinkchickadee!!), then you probably have seen over the first 14 days of February that I was doing my own fashion challenge: 14 Days of *none other than my favorite color* PINK!!! *Just* in case you didn’t know, my favorite color is PINK, so I had to do a fun fashion challenge to kick off the days leading up to Valentine’s Day wearing all things PINK!

*Disclaimer: Please note that this post contains affiliate links, which means that if you purchase through one of my links, then I will receive a small commission. This commission is at no extra cost to you. Additionally, this post is not sponsored, and all opinions are my own.*

For my 14 Days of Pink challenge, I wore PINK every single day during the first 14 days of February leading up to Valentine’s Day. As a mega lover of the color pink, this fashion challenge was not challenging for me to find 14 days worth of pink outfits to wear, rather it was fun to be able to style 14 different outfits with pink in it for 14 different days. Those 14 days involved: lounging around the house, working in the office, a Galentine’s party, networking dinners in downtown Washington, DC, and an evening out at a painting bar. So, it was fun to incorporate pink into each of my outfits given the current day’s ongoings. The pieces I wore were ALL shopped directly from my closet which was FUN to “shop” in, too (and, well, my wallet enjoyed it as well!).

Although I did shop my closet for all of my 14 Days of Pink looks, some of the pieces that I wore are still available online AND I have linked them here:

Happy rest of February to y’all!!

My 2023 Reader Survey + Favorite New Set!

At the beginning of each year, I do a reader survey to further position my goals for my platform for the coming year. As my followers here at The Pink Chickadee, I LOVE to hear from each of you to know how to better serve y’all for the upcoming year. If you follow me on Instagram (follow me @_thepinkchickadee if not!!), then you have probably seen me post about my survey!

*Disclaimer: Please note that this post contains affiliate links, which means that if you purchase through one of my links, then I will receive a small commission. This commission is at no extra cost to you. Additionally, this post is not sponsored, and all opinions are my own.*

My Reader Survey will be open from February 1, 2023-February 15, 2023. You can take my Reader Survey 2023 here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeMR6I2bAZeNSzjyRA_TO9-rqRAulGiskIgEw8ZEeIar17l3w/viewform?usp=pp_url

Purpose: My Reader Survey is a chance for you aka my fellow followers and readers to share what you’ve enjoyed seeing here on my platform and what you want to see moving forward on my happy corner of the internet. It also allows me to collect data on my fellow readers’ demographics, including age range, gender identity, cities in which they live, and where content is viewed. At the same time, I can collect feedback on what content my readers aka y’all like, don’t like, and want to see in the coming year. Year after year, my platform grows and I love to see how my readership has evolved and grown with the times. Knowing all of this information allows me to best serve y’all and, furthermore, best craft my 2023 blogger goals to serve y’all.

As a woman in STEM and more specifically a woman in data science, I LOVE LOVE LOVE getting to collect and analyze data on y’all and use it to none other than y’all’s advantage. This is a moment for me to seriously nerd out over y’all’s responses – LOLLL! I mean, it is SO MUCH FUN to be able to look through each and every one of y’all’s responses and see how I can best serve you. In the data science world, it is ALL about taking a set of data and transforming it into actionable insights that can be best used to serve a purpose. In this case, that purpose is to best serve y’all and develop goals for The Pink Chickadee for 2023! At the end of the day, my blog is only apart of your own world, and I am here to best serve YOU and what YOU feel inspired to find from me and my platform.

As always, thank you so much for taking the time to read and support my platform. Whether you have been here since I started blogging back in early 2020 or started following along just this week, it means the world to me that you have found and taken the time to visit my happy little corner here of the internet. As someone who has become passionate about creating content spreading my confetti wherever I go, I am always happy to share it with y’all: my readers. Now, it is YOUR TURN to share what you want to see moving forward in 2023 and beyond.

To nerd out over ALL of your survey responses, I will be enjoying a nice cup of coffee, watching Netflix in the background with a nice candle all lit up, and wearing my gorgeous and brand-new Silk & Salt Staycation Sweat Set! This sweat set is gorgeous, super comfortable, and great for work from home and lounging or perhaps both. Silk & Salt’s Staycation sweat set was *even* initially a bit out of my style comfort zone, but I am glad I gave it a try. Spoiler alert: I LOVE it!!! I got featured by Starbucks (!!!), collaborated with some super great brands, and went on my first-ever international trip to Canada as a blogger (I have been fortunate enough to travel abroad pre-blogging years, too!). One of my favorite parts of blogging is getting to share different outfits throughout the year. My closet is my most prized possession and will likely remain that way for many more years to come (Carrie Bradshaw feels anyone?!). Today, I am going to share my blogging highlights and favorite outfits of this past year!
