It’s Fall y’all!!! Which means that it is officially time for all-things Fall fun – whether it be pumpkin patches, apple orchards, corn mazes, Fall festivals, and pumpkin spiced lattes! Personally, Fall is one of my FAVORITE seasons!!! Anddd, nothing says Fall fun to me quite like a visit to one of the many pumpkin patches in Northern Virginia – where I am proud to call home. This blog post lists 18 Pumpkin Patches in Northern Virginia.

If you are looking for an activity to do pair with visiting a Northern Virginia pumpkin patch, then I would highly recommend visiting one of the region’s many wineries (which I share more about here!) or take a scenic drive and go leaf peeping at Shenandoah National Park’s Skyline Drive (read here for 2025 Fall Foliage predictions!). In addition to wineries, Northern Virginia also has a variety of things to do and delicious places to dine at, which I list here. 18 Pumpkin Patches in Northern Virginia

Whether it be a local farmers and produce market selling Virginia grown goods or a pick-your-own orchard and pumpkin patch, or a Fall Festival, these 18 Pumpkin Patches in Northern Virginia truly have it ALL!

1 – Nalls Produce (7310 Beulah St, Kingstowne)

Serving the Northern Virginia region since 1961, Nalls Produce is a garden center that also sells local produce and dairy, gardening supplies, and flowers. This year, Nalls Produce’s popular Pumpkin Hill opens on September 27 and their iconic pumpkin wall has been open since early September.

2 – Burke Nursery & Garden Center (9401 Burke Rd, Burke)

Burke Nursery & Garden Center has all-things gardening and landscaping at your service! From September 20, 2025-November 6, 2025, Burke Nursery is hosting their annual Pumpkin Patch Photo Contest open to all who visit their pumpkin patch and fall market.

3 – Cox Farms (15621 Braddock Rd, Centreville)

A family-owned farm that has been a Fall Northern Virginia tradition for decades, Cox Farms‘ popular Fall Festival is open to people of all ages to enjoy some Fall fun from September 20, 2025-November 9, 2025! For those who love a bit of horror this Halloween, then be sure to check out Fields of Fear from September 26, 2025-November 8, 2025. All guests must have a ticket upon entry to either the Fall Festival or Fields of Fear.

4 – Great Country Farms (34345 Snickersville Turnpike, Bluemont)

A popular Northern Virginia pick-your-own farm in the Spring/Summer season as well, Great Country Farms hosts popular Fall events from September 1-early November, 2025 including Pumpkin Picking and a Corn Maze. It is worth noting that tickets must be purchased upon entry.

5 – Temple Hall Farm Pumpkin Patch & Sunflower Fields (15855 Limestone School Rd, Leesburg)

A Northern Virginia park, Temple Hall Farm Regional Park offers fun nature escapes and outdoor activities all year-round. From September 27, 2025-November 2, 2025, Temple Hall Farm Pumpkin Patch & Sunflower Fields take over the park making it the ultimate Fall festival for all!

6 – Pumpkin Village Fall Fest (19246 James Monroe Hwy, Leesburg)

Known as Loudoun’s Favorite Fall Festival, Pumpkin Village Fall Fest has been bringing families together for 20+ years with several family-friendly activities from slides to moon bounces and a petting zoo. For the 2025 season, Pumpkin Village Fall Fest will take place September 20-November 4 and is ticketed.

7 – Reston Farm Garden Market (10800 Baron Cameron Ave, Great Falls Crossing)

Reston Farm Garden Market has ultra-friendly staff and an excellent selection of all-things gardening and landscaping. To enjoy some Fall fun, Reston Farm Garden Market hosts a ticketed family-friendly Fall Festival which will occur from September 27, 2025-October 27, 2025 and has a petting zoo, train ride, inflatables, and pumpkin picking.

8 – Heather Hill Gardens (8111 Ox Road, Fairfax Station)

A farmers market selling local produce, vegetables, plants, and in the Fall, pumpkins, Heather Hill Gardens has gorgeous Fall displays to get anyone in the seasonal spirit!

9 – DePaul’s Urban Farm (2599 Chain Bridge Rd, Vienna)

Proudly known as Vienna’s locally owned garden center and gift shop, DePaul’s Urban Farm has ultra-fun Fall displays and a HUGE pumpkin selection for all to enjoy!

10 – Merrifield Garden Center (Multiple locations – Falls Church, Fairfax, & Gainesville)

A family-owned garden center selling all-things gardening and landscaping as well as home decor, Merrifield Garden Center also has some gorgeous festive Fall displays and pumpkins!

11 – Wegmeyer Farms (38299 Hughesville Rd, Hamilton)

Located in Northern Virginia’s rolling hills, Wegmeyer Farms is a pick-your-own farm that offers berries in the Spring/Summer and pumpkins (including pre-picked) in the Fall. Pick-your-own pumpkins are available at Wegmeyer Farms Thursdays-Sundays and Indigenous People’s Day starting on September 20, 2025.

12 – Yankey Farms (11812 Bristow Rd, Bristow)

A fresh market produce farm in the heart of Bristow, Yankey Farms‘s annual Pumpkin Patch will open for the Fall 2025 season daily starting on October 5-October 31, 2025. Activities include pumpkin picking, a Corn maze, hay rides, and a cow train.

13 – Hollin Farms (1524 Snowden Rd, Delaplane)

Hollin Farms is a pick-your-own farm just an hour outside of Washington, DC. As of September 22, 2025, Hollin Farms currently has pumpkins, gourds, and winter squash available and their website is updated regularly to reflect what’s available.

14 – Braehead Farm (1130 Tyler St, Fredericksburg)

Located in Fredericksburg, Braehead Farm sells farm-fresh goods at their market as well as a Fall Festival Weekends on September 27, 2025-October 26, 2025 with pick-your-own pumpkins and sunflowers. Tickets must be purchased upon entry.

15 – Stribling Orchard (11587 Poverty Hollow Ln, Markham)

Also offering opportunities to go apple and peach picking and an onsite market selling kettle corn and wine on the weekends, Stribling Orchard is the perfect place for Fall fun and starts selling pumpkins as of early September 2025. Be sure to check out their website regularly for the most recent updates on what’s available!

16 – Messick’s Farm Market (6025 Catlett Rd, Bealeton)

A family-owned market selling local produce and homemade soups as well as fun festivals throughout the year, Messick’s Farm Market includes a Fall Festival with pumpkin picking, a petting zoo, and hayrides from September 20-October 26, 2025. It is worth noting that tickets are to be purchased upon entry.

17 – Hartland Orchard (3064 Hartland Ln, Markham)

A pick-your-own orchard in the Northern Virginia Wine Country, Hartland Orchard offers several fruit picking opportunities throughout the year! Be sure to check out Hartland Orchard’s calendar to see what will be available and when, including pumpkins from September-early November 2025. It is worth noting that Hartland Orchard only accepts cash and checks.

18 – Meadows Farms Nursery & Landscaping (Multiple locations – Annandale, Falls Church, Manassas, Chantilly, Herndon, Stafford, Fredericksburg, Leesburg, & Winchester)

Including 18 full-service garden centers and nurseries across the DMV, Meadows Farms Nursery & Landscaping has a variety of pumpkins to choose from in the months of September and October as well as a few Fall-centric events.

Ever since I was a kid, pumpkin patches have brought me SO MUCH JOY. And, I know that many of us as we grow older whether or not we have kids in our lives at the moment want to embrace our inner child and enjoy that Fall fun, too. Recently, as a form of self-care, I have started mapping out all of the places that I aspire to visit in Northern Virginia. While I have been extremely fortunate to call Northern Virginia my own home for the last few years, I feel as if I haven’t made as much of an effort to devote time to checking off the several items on my personal bucket list that are just south of the nation’s capital. A mega thanks to Instagram and Facebook, I have been able to uncover some incredible places to add to my bucket list of things to do in Northern Virginia that I plan to share with YOU as I get started in crossing some places off. This master list will kick off with all of the places that I’ve been to so far and be updated regularly as I check spots off, so stay tuned!

This master list of things to do in Northern Virginia will be grouped into two distinct categories: do and dining. Now, let’s get into it!!

Do

Fairfax County Parks (multiple locations, county-wide) – Explore one of Fairfax County’s many parks. From gorgeous marsh trails to lakeside parks to trails with gorgeous seasonal flowers lining them to everything in between, Fairfax County, Virginia truly has it all in terms of parks! Read more here for a list of some of the many incredible parks that Fairfax County has to offer right here in Northern Virginia!

Blandy Experimental Farm and State Arboretum of Virginia (400 Blandy Farm Lane, Boyce) – Located in the Shenandoah Valley, Blandy Experimental Farm and State Arboretum of Virginia is a University of Virginia-run field station that homes 700+ acres trails filled with flora and fauna (including some scenic Mountain View’s!) for all to enjoy. Mosaic (2905 District Avenue, Fairfax) – Mosaic is an upscale shopping district and dining complex located in the heart of Fairfax, Virginia. Mosaic has a weekly farmers market, events year-round (including seasonal events!), and fun street art.

Clifton Historic District (historic downtown) – A national historic district located in Fairfax County’s Clifton, Clifton Historic District is an adorable town filled with lots of delicious restaurants, a local ice cream shop Peterson’s (more on that in the Dine category!), and shops – all surrounded by stunning historical charm at every corner.

Old Town Alexandria (historic downtown) – A hustling historic district alongside the Potomac River in close proximity to George Washington’s Mount Vernon, Old Town Alexandria is the United States’ 3rd oldest historic district and hosts a 260 years’ old Saturday Farmers’ Market alongside annual events such as a July 4th and New Year’s fireworks show, Scottish Christmas Parade, and St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington also known as MoCA Arlington (3550 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington) – MoCA Arlington offers contemporary art exhibitions, educational programs, subsidized studio spaces for artists, event venue space, all in a historic schoolhouse in the heart of Arlington’s Virginia Square neighborhood. MoCA is free to visit for all and has a wonderful onsite gift shop to support local artists alongside its incredible exhibits (which you can check out here). While there, be sure to check out the gorgeous stained glass windows in the Tiffany room!

Workhouse Arts Center (9518 Workhouse Way, Lorton) – A former onetime prison in Lorton, Virginia, the Workhouse Arts Center has truly transformed not only the Lorton community but as a place to give back to others. Currently, the Workhouse Arts Center serves as a cultural center and an innovative collaboration of the arts, through offering a wide range of art classes, art galleries, a theater, and camps. There is also an onsite Lucy Burns Museum to honor the legacy of the dark history and suffragettes that once did time there for fighting for their right to vote (and later succeeded). Additionally, the Workhouse Arts Center has an annual fireworks show and Second Saturdays monthly events. Be sure to take a photo in front of the LOVE sign – a tribute to Virginia’s tourism state-wide!

Capital One Hall (7750 Capitol One Tower Road, Tysons) – A performing arts theater as a part of Tysons’ Capital One Center, Capital One Hall is one of many theaters for Northern Virginians to go and catch a show! Past shows have included Hairspray, Little Women, and Dear Evan Hansen. One of the best parts about catching a show at Capital One Hall is that all attendees can bring snacks/drinks which are available for purchase onsite into the theater. Amazon 2nd HQ also known as Metropolitan Park (1400 South Eads Street, Arlington) – A part of Arlington’s National Landing neighborhood, Metropolitan Park is an urban green space hosting a variety of events and activities for people of all ages to enjoy within close proximity of Amazon’s 2nd headquarters buildings aka Amazon 2nd HQ/Amazon HQ2. Don’t forget to go inside the Amazon headquarters and grab a free banana – a signature complimentary snack to all that walk through the building’s doors! – and check out a variety of onsite dining options open to all to enjoy at an additional cost.

The Crossing Clarendon (2800 Clarendon Boulevard, Arlington) – In the heart of Arlington’s Clarendon neighborhood, The Crossing Clarendon is a fun outdoor shopping mall with a water fountain, shops, dining, and fun seasonal pop-ups that are perfect for photo opportunities. Check out The Crossing Clarendon’s directory and be sure to follow their Instagram for any fun seasonal pop ups!

Fairfax Corner (4100 Monument Corner Drive, Fairfax) – Featuring state of the art shopping, dining, entertainment, and events in the heart of Fairfax, Virginia, Fairfax Corner truly has it all. Be sure to snap a photo in front of one of the many murals, browse many of the shops which include King Arthur Baking, Apple, Arhaus, and IKEA, check out a variety of happy hour specials and evenings where guests can grab an alcoholic drink at any participating restaurant and enjoy it all around Fairfax Corner, and catch a ride on one of the free golf cart shuttles if you get tired! Perch Putt (1805 Capitol One Drive Suite 1150, Tysons) – Located on the rooftop at Capital One Center, Perch Putt is an ultra-fun mini golf course experience! Be sure to grab a cocktail (or two!) as you navigate the course.

Nalls Produce (7310 Beulah Street, Kingstowne) – Calling Kingstowne is home for 60+ years, Nalls Produce is a garden center selling flowers, plants, alongside local fruit, produce, and dairy that has the most adorable seasonal pop-ups in the Fall and at Christmas time. Be sure to check out their kid-friendly pumpkin wall and pumpkin hill starting in late September-October/November and then their Christmas wreaths, trees, and Christmas wall in December (go after dark for a magical and festive experience!!). And, don’t sleep on seasonal produce and gorgeous flowers and plants all year long at Nalls Produce. There is also a resident pig that everyone can befriend while visiting!

Cox Farms (15621 Braddock Road, Centreville) – Serving the local Northern Virginia area for generations, Cox Farms is a family-owned farm offering a petting zoo, local produce and flowers, and most notably their annual Fall Festival – fit for everyone to enjoy!

Reston Farm Garden Market (10800 Baron Cameron Avenue, Great Falls Crossing) – Reston Farm Garden Market is a garden center that offers a wide array of plants and gardening supplies. Be sure to make a visit in the Fall for fun seasonal events!

George Washington’s Mount Vernon (3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon) – Mount Vernon is the former home of the United States’s first President George Washington. A beautiful estate right next to the Potomac River, George Washington’s Mount Vernon has an onsite restaurant, gift shop, and offers several opportunities both within his mansion and beyond for visitors to immerse themselves in our nation’s founding. Annually, Mount Vernon hosts multiple wine festivals (read more about my experience here), Christmas candlelight tours, historical reenactments, and Fourth of July fireworks. Tysons Corner Center (1961 Chain Bridge Road, Tysons) – Located right off of Metro’s Silver Line, Tysons Corner Center is a massive shopping mall and premier shopping destination not only for Northern Virginians but also for neighboring residents in Maryland and Washington, DC. From shops such as LOFT, Talbots, Nordstrom, and American Girl to H&M, Primark, and Zara, Tysons Corner Center has everything from upscale restaurants to casual eats and everything in between. While there, be sure to catch a movie at the onsite AMC movie theater! Check out all that Tysons Corner Center has to offer here.

Tysons Galleria (2001 International Drive, McLean) – The second largest mall in Tysons, Tysons Galleria focuses on upscale, luxury shops such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Lilly Pulitzer, and Nordstrom and over 30 options to choose from. Most notably, Ralph Lauren’s iconic Ralph’s Coffee – a popular cafe to honor the preppy fashion designer in New York City and Chicago, too – has its Washington, DC area location right at Tysons Galleria! Shirlington Village (2700 South Quincy Street, Arlington) – First opening its doors to the public in 1944, Shirlington Village is a pioneer of its kind! Being the first large shopping center in the Washington, DC area and one of the first in the United States, Shirlington Village has a plethora of local shops, delicious eats, a grocery store, and even a local Signature Theatre. Check out all that Shirlington Village has to offer here.

Great Falls Park (9200 Old Dominion Drive, McLean) – Great Falls Park is a small National Park Service site located alongside the banks of the Potomac River and offers close proximity to Washington, DC. Be sure to catch a glimpse of the gorgeous falls at one of the many accessible scenic viewpoints throughout the park and go for a stroll to take it all in! Muse Paintbar (multiple locations – 4+) – With an opportunity to enjoy a guided paint and sip experience with a la carte food options available, Muse Paintbar allows all guests to take a break and immerse themselves in the ultimate self care experience. Westpost at National Landing (1201 South Joyce Street, Arlington) – You may have once known Westpost at National Landing by its former name Pentagon Row! An upscale outdoor shopping center and residential area in the Pentagon City neighborhood of Arlington, Westpost at National Landing is right next to the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City and provides visitors with several dining and shopping opportunities. In the Winter months, be sure to try outdoor ice skating at the local rink! Check out all that Westpost at National Landing has to offer here.

Fashion Centre at Pentagon City (1100 South Hayes Street, Arlington) – Formerly known as the Pentagon City Mall, the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City is located just outside of Washington, DC and offers a diverse range of stores, dining, and entertainment, including Panera, McDonald’s, Shake Shack, Zara, Coach, Bath & Body Works, and Apple. Burke Nursery and Garden Center (9401 Burke Road, Burke) – A lovely nursery and garden center in the heart of Burke, Virginia, Burke Nursery and Garden Center is an adorable local staple. Be sure to visit in the Fall for the spooky and all-things Fall fun pumpkin patch and Fall market that’s dog-friendly and fun for all! Their homemade apple cider donuts are THE BEST. Plan your visit today.

Occoquan Historic District (historic downtown) – Founded in 1804 alongside the Occoquan River via the banks of the Potomac River, Occoquan Historic District is a stunning historic mill town in Prince William County. Occoquan offers a free museum on the town’s history, including on the Occoquan River Bridge which flooded in the 1940s and devastated the town as a result. Today, Occoquan Historic District’s charm remains in tact and it has several dining and shopping opportunities – all of which are small, local businesses – and feels as if it’s a hidden gem in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Northern Virginia. Not to mention, Occoquan has several incredible events, including their Christmas tree lighting, trivia and live music, and their semi-annual craft festival. Old Lucketts Store (42350 Lucketts Road, Leesburg) – An antiques store and small business outside of downtown Leesburg, the Old Lucketts Store is a circa 1879 restored general store that is stunning at every shop corner. Be sure to visit during the holiday season for the annual Holiday House (read more about my annual experiences here!) or the Spring/Fall markets in Berryville. Whether you’re taking a day to visit Leesburg or just want a lovely shopping experience, be sure to see all that the Old Lucketts Store has to offer here.

Ballston Quarter (4238 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington) – In the heart of Arlington’s Ballston neighborhood, Ballston Quarter is an urban shopping center with restaurants, entertainment, shopping, and events. Be sure to check out all that Ballston Quarter has to offer here.

Reston Town Center (11900 Market Street, Reston) – With a mix of office spaces, apartments, and retail businesses ranging from restaurants to shopping to convenience stores and everything in between, Reston Town Center truly has it all! With a Metro station located on the Silver Line, Reston Town Center is convenient for those commuting to/from Washington, DC but also has plentiful of parking options, too. Whether you’re based in Northern Virginia or want to venture beyond Washington, DC/nearby suburbs to try some delicious Northern Virginia gems (for parks to enjoy look no further than here), then this dining guide is for YOU!

Lilys Chocolate & Coffee (175 Maple Avenue East, Vienna) – An adorable pink and floral cafe as well as a dessert bar in the heart of Vienna, Virginia! With a second location opened up in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia in Summer 2023, Lilys Chocolate & Coffee is a woman and mother-owned cafe is seriously such a treat and a great Instagram photo opportunity, too. Be prepared for LOTS of pink!!

La Madeleine (Multiple Locations – Alexandria & Reston) – With 86 locations across the United States, the adorable La Madeleine feels as if it’s a local cafe within your own hometown. Fairfax County, Virginia has TWO locations in Alexandria and Reston and is a delicious and inexpensive spot for lunch, coffee, baked goods, wine, or a refreshment.

Tatte Bakery (11910 Market Street, Reston) – Tatte Bakery is pretty much EVERYWHERE nowadays in the Washington, DC area and if you have been to any location, you will know why! Tatte truly goes above and beyond service-wise no matter which location you’re at and attracts people all across the area to flock there at all times of the day. Whether it be a quick coffee or sweet treat, breakfast, or lunch, Tatte truly is the place to be! Note: be prepared for crowds, especially during busier dining hours and on the weekends.

Call Your Mother Deli (Multiple locations – McLean & Vienna) – Call Your Mother Deli has multiple locations across the Washington, DC area including two in Fairfax County: McLean and Vienna. It is a well-known deli and bagel shop paying homage to its owners’ Jewish roots. Call Your Mother Deli ALSO has the most adorable pink and teal branding and such fun and adorable interiors!!

Andy’s Pizza (Multiple locations – Fairfax & Tysons) – A delicious pizza chain with locations all across the Washington, DC area. I’ve specifically dined at the Tysons location which has a fun bar and happy hour on the top floor of the Tysons Galleria. Andy’s Pizza offers delicious New York-style pizza including by the slice!

Lotus Pho & Grill (8971 Ox Road Suite 160, Lorton) – One of my favorite to-go or to casually dine-in Vietnamese restaurants! The staff at Lotus Pho & Grill are ultra-kind and offer quick service and delicious eats at an affordable price point.

Main Street Pub (7140 Main Street, Clifton) – Located in the heart of Old Town Clifton, Main Street Pub is truly the gathering place of this adorable historic town. Offering a market and deli at the front of the pub and restaurant for dine-in at the back, Main Street Pub is a lovely gathering spot for delicious eats, ranging from deli sandwiches, burgers, and seafood. I truly feel right at home whenever I dine here!

Chloez Cafe (5622 Ox Road Unit F, Fairfax Station) – Conveniently located near George Mason University’s main campus, Chloez Cafe is a cozy spot best known for its brunch and comfort foods. It’s interiors makes you feel as if you’ve been transported to the beach for a lovely and affordable breakfast while never leaving Northern Virginia!

Casa Tequila Bar & Grill (9020 Lorton Station Boulevard, Lorton) – Casa Tequila Bar & Grill is definitely the place you go for some chips and guacamole alongside some margaritas and tacos! Indeed, it is a lovely spot for some Mexican food without breaking the bank.

Brickmaker’s Cafe (9751 Ox Road, Lorton) – Situated alongside the Potomac River at Occoquan Regional Park (which I write about more so here), Brickmaker’s Cafe is the perfect spot to go to admire riverside views while also enjoying some delicious eats and perhaps some beer/wine. From seafood to hot dogs and sandwiches and chicken fingers and everything in between, Brickmaker’s Cafe truly has something for everyone. While there, don’t forget to enjoy Occoquan Regional Park and all that it has to offer, from history to hiking to water sports!

Taco Rock (Multiple Locations – Lorton, Alexandria, Oakton, & Falls Church) – A delicious spot offering innovative and creative gourmet tacos and fun beers/cocktails. I once went here on a Saturday night and quickly learned how popular of a place Taco Rock is and trying their delicious tacos will tell you why!

Spartans Family Restaurant (9542 Burke Road, Burke) – A family favorite for all generations, Spartans Family Restaurant was founded by an immigrant family who strived to make a better life for themselves. Today, Spartans serves up delicious comfort eats with a Greek and Italian twist, whether it be pizza, French Onion soup, gyros, seafood, pasta, salad, and MORE. In addition to incredible lunch and dinner eats, Spartans also serves up an excellent brunch on the weekends. Truly, to this day, the family behind Spartans created a beautiful life for themselves, their family, and the entire local communities.

Carnegie Diner & Cafe (501 Maple Avenue West, Vienna) – A lovely Carnegie Hall-inspired spot serving up ALLLL of the comfort diner-style foods in an elevated atmosphere. Alongside mouthwatering diner eats, Carnegie Diner & Cafe serves a variety of super fun cocktails.

Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar (Multiple Locations – Alexandria, Fairfax, & Chantilly) – Inspired by *none other than* dogs, Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar is a dog-friendly restaurant serving incredible beers, wines, and cocktails as well as a vast bar style menu, with delicious burgers and seafood. Don’t miss the tater tots and the bones on the door handles!!

Hawk & Griffin (435 Maple Avenue West, Vienna) – A favorite English-style pub located in the heart of Vienna, Virginia. Serving up delicious pub-style eats and beers, Hawk & Griffin transports you to England without having to hop across the pond!

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar (8461 Leesburg Pike Suite C, Tysons – located inside Tysons Corner Center) – Ever dreamed of sitting at a table and grabbing any and all of the sushi that goes by on a conveyer belt?!?! Then, Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is the place for you!! Situated in the center of Tysons Corner Center, Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is a lovely spot to wine and dine whilst enjoying some retail therapy (or browsing!).

Mike’s American Grill (6210 Backlick Road, Springfield) – A well-loved establishment in the heart of Springfield, Mike’s American Grill offers elevated American eats in an elevated atmosphere. Mike’s American Grill offers everything from delicious cocktails to salads and seafood to pastas and steak.

Trummer’s Restaurant (7134 Main Street, Clifton) – Inspired by Austrian culture and cuisines, Trummer’s Restaurant celebrates its owner’s Austria heritage while honoring its American home. On several occasions, Trummer’s offers super fun wine tastings, whether from local Virginia-based wineries or from Austrian-based wineries. While at Trummer’s, be sure to take a stroll alongside the beautiful Clifton Historic District where its located!

Sushi Prince (10256 Main Street, Fairfax) – A tiny sushi spot in the heart of Old Town Fairfax with an ultra-fun atmosphere (be sure to look up at the ceiling to see why!!), Sushi Prince offers affordable and delicious sushi in an upscale environment.

Tokyo One (9443 Lorton Market Street, Lorton) – A family-owned Japanese restaurant offering both a hibachi and regular dining option, Tokyo One is a lovely spot to enjoy some delicious eats while supporting small and local. Whether you choose the full hibachi experience or just dine at one of their tables for sushi and other eats throughout the restaurant, either way, you will have a lovely experience.

Villa Bella (6050 Burke Commons Road C, Burke) – A restaurant serving delicious Italian dishes alongside wine and specialty cocktails in an intimate setting that transports you to the Amalfi Coast. Villa Bella truly makes you feel as if you’re having a lovely dinner near the Mediterranean without ever packing your bags!

Founding Farmers (Multiple locations – Alexandria, Tysons & Reston) – Founding Farmers pays homage to local farms source its delicious eats, hence its iconic name and local popularity! Founding Farmers serves up delicious eats and cocktails whether it be their incredible cornbread (including cornbread croutons!!), brunch, or fried chicken/seafood. Don’t forget to try their desserts to take home or pies to go during the holiday season!

Starr Hill Brewery & The Perch (Floor 11 of Capital One Center, Tysons) – Located on the Capital One Center rooftop, Starr Hill Brewery offers local brews and cocktails as well as casual eats and some fun live music. Next door to Starr Hill Brewery also on the rooftop is The Perch where you can grab a cocktail and play some mini golf. Whether you choose to just take in the sunshine and live music with loved ones with a drink in-hand and/or take part in some mini golf at The Perch, you will definitely have a lovely time!!

Fuse Box (8961 Ox Road Suite 130, Lorton) – A sports bar-style restaurant with a vast bar serving an upscale and higher quality version of Chinese takeout eats. Whether you grab a drink at the bar to catch the latest sports news/games with some small bites or choose to dine in at a booth for a meal, Fuse Box has options for all!

Agora (7911 Westpark Drive, Tysons) – A destination for Mediterranean cuisine, Agora offers unique and delicious delights and a great cocktail and wine menu. Don’t forget to check out their incredible brunch menu at a fixed price!

Trattoria Villagio (7145 Main Street, Clifton) – Situated on Main Street of the beautiful Clifton Historic District, Trattoria Villagio is a delicious upscale Italian restaurant. If you’re in the mood for a more casual dining or takeout experience, be sure to check out Trattoria Villagio’s pizza shed located adjacent to their upscale dining room. Serving all everything from starters to pastas to salads to wines and desserts in a stunning and intimate setting, Trattoria Villagio will leave you wanting more!

Coastal Flats (Multiple Locations – Tysons & Fairfax) – A delicious upscale seafood restaurant, Coastal Flats indeed transports you to the coast! Be sure to try their incredible crab fritters as a starter alongside a cocktail and a delicious seafood entree and you will leave craving more.

North Italia (Multiple Locations – Reston & Tysons) – A lovely Italian restaurant, North Italia simply is perfect to enjoy some wine and/or pizza/pasta with loved ones!

Jackson’s Mighty Fine Food and Lucky Lounge (11927 Democracy Drive, Reston) – In a lively lounge-like atmosphere in the heart of Reston Town Center, Jackson’s Mighty Fine Food and Lucky Lounge offers all-things American cuisine. Don’t forget to try their signature deviled eggs as a starter! If parking at Reston Town Center, all guests dining at Jackson’s Mighty Fine Food and Lucky Lounge will receive free parking via a voucher if parking is charged during the time that they are dining — ask your hostess about this before leaving!!

Ozzie’s Good Eats (11880 Grand Commons Avenue, Fairfax) – In the heart of Fairfax Corner – a lively and adorable shopping + dining district, Ozzie’s Good Eats offers a lovely dining experience in an exciting atmosphere. Serving up everything from pasta to steak to burgers to seafood and everything in between, Ozzie’s Good Eats truly has it all! Don’t forget to order a cocktail (or two!) – their espresso martini is my favorite in the Washington, DC area!!

Bellissimo Restaurant (10403 Main Street, Fairfax) – A family-owned restaurant in the heart of Old Town Fairfax, Virginia, Bellissimo Restaurant serves high-quality Italian eats and wines while transporting you to the heart of Italy! The heart of Italy and Italian dining and hospitality is shown in the staff and service as well as the quality of the delicious eats at Bellissimo Restaurant and leaves you with such a lovely and heart-warming experience.

Magnolia Dessert Bar & Cafe (431 Maple Avenue West, Vienna) – Perfect for that Instagram shot with its library-like setting in a whimsical garden, Magnolia Dessert Bar & Coffee is a lovely dessert bar and cafe in the heart of Vienna, Virginia! What’s fun about Magnolia Dessert Bar & Cafe is that it’s open until 10pm on weekdays and 11pm on weeknights, making it a fun place to enjoy an evening.

Peterson’s Ice Cream Depot (7150 Main Street, Clifton) – A decades-old Clifton Historic District staple, Peterson’s Ice Cream Depot is THE spot to enjoy locally made ice cream in Fairfax County, Virginia! Unique flavors rotate on a regular basis alongside regular flavors served, too. There is usually a line at Peterson’s Ice Cream Depot, but it is SOOO worth the wait!!

The Secret Garden Cafe (404 Mill Street, Occoquan Historic District) – Literally situated in a secret garden patio in the heart of Occoquan Historic District, The Secret Garden Cafe is a local spot serving delicious American fare with some global twists. It is worth mentioning that The Secret Garden Cafe does not take reservations and it can get pretty busy especially during the weekends, however, they do have a waitlist that I suggest calling ahead or checking in and tracking your spot on the waitlist as you stroll and check out the amazing Occoquan Historic District. Either way, don’t arrive super hungry, especially for weekend brunch which is well worth it!!

Cock & Bowl Belgian Bistro (302 Poplar Alley, Occoquan Historic District) – Providing a homey feel with its gorgeous patio in Occoquan Historic District, Cock & Bowl Belgian Bistro offers a delicious Belgian fare from beers to mussels to waffles and pommes frites and everything in between!

Bottle Stop Wine Bar (311 Mill Street, Occoquan Historic District) – A local wine bar in the heart of Occoquan Historic District, Bottle Stop Wine Bar supports wineries from around the world, offering wine flights and light fares to enjoy – all while overlooking the Occoquan River.

Asian Grill (6228 Rolling Road, Suite 8, Springfield) – Asian Grill serves up everyone’s favorite Asian dishes in a family-style manner with staff that make you feel like family. Every time anyone walks through the doors of Asian Grill, the familiar staff will excitedly remember you and greet you, making it such a wonderful experience for all and truly goes a long way!

Ballywhack Shack (126 B, Commerce Street, Occoquan Historic District) – A cozy cafe, hot dog, and sandwich shop in Occoquan Historic District, Ballywhack Shack truly has all of the grab and go delights that all will enjoy while exploring the adjacent town! Be sure to try some of their unique flavored teas!

The Spot at Belmont Bay – formulary known at The Spot on Mill Street (551 Harbor Side Street, Woodbridge) – Once in Occoquan Historic District and now in nearby Belmont Bay, The Spot at Belmont Bay is the perfect spot to enjoy an affordable and fun happy hour food and drink while overlooking the gorgeous Belmont Bay!

Third Base Pizza & Frozen Custard Parlor (202 Commerce Street, Occoquan Historic District) – What’s a better combination than pizza and dessert?!?! Well, Third Base Pizza & Frozen Custard Bar has both pizza and custard + milkshakes!

Open Road (multiple locations – Falls Church, Rosslyn, and Reston) -Ranked one of the Best Places to Work by Washingtonian, Open Road is an American fare restaurant inspired by American culture through a love of music, outdoors, and the spirit of none other than the open road. While Mexican restaurants typically gives guests complimentary chips and salsa to start, Open Road gives guests a bowl of house made popcorn to start which is WONDERFUL! It is also worth mentioning that the people who work at Open Road make it such a memorable experience, one that keeps me coming back.

Carlyle (4000 Campbell Avenue, Arlington) – Decked out in art deco-inspired interiors, Carlyle gives everyone in the heart of Shirlington Village a warm and grand welcome with its gorgeous exterior that gets better as guests walk indoors to enjoy a lovely meal. As apart of the Great American Restaurants, Carlyle offers many of the chain’s culinary delights with a New American brasserie feel.

Sixty Vines (11905 Market Street, Reston) – A wine-centric restaurant with 60+ wines on tap, Sixty Vines has locations nationwide and delicious eats to pair with their several wines from around the world.

Samuel Beckett’s Irish Gastro Pub (2800 South Randolph Street, Arlington) – Serving authentic Irish cuisine in an authentic Irish setting since 2011, Samuel Beckett’s Irish Gastro Pub makes you feel as if you stepped foot into the Emerald Isle while in the heart of Arlington’s Shirlington Village.

Sabores Tapas Bar (2401 Columbia Pike, Arlington) – A Tapas bar that brings the Spanish culinary scene to Arlington, Sabores Tapas Bar serves up delicious Spanish delights, great happy hour deals, and sports watching for the sports fans out there all in a fun and welcoming setting.

Punch Bowl Social (4238 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington) – With bowling, arcade games, and karaoke, Punch Bowl Social also has a delicious menu with a wide array of dishes and drinks to choose from amongst all of the fun onsite entertainment options.

Screwtop Wine Bar (1025 North Fillmore Street, Arlington) – A wine and cheese shop with a fabulous selection of wines from across the world, Screwtop Wine Bar also has a restaurant serving lunch and dinner alongside fun tasting events some of which are with winemakers from around the world.

Busboys and Poets (4251 Campbell Avenue, Arlington) – Having a full service restaurant and bar, bookstore, and coffee shop, Busboys and Poets is a cultural hub where everyone regardless of race comes together. Most notably, Busboys and Poets celebrates black culture and activism, especially within their onsite bookstore.

Palette 22 (4053 Campbell Avenue, Arlington) – Housed in an art studio, Palette 22 serves global street food fare and has incredible happy hour deals, all in the heart of Arlington’s Shirlington Village.

Green Pig Bistro (2900 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington) – A hip bistro spot with delicious eats, Green Pig Bistro is well known for its American fare from brunch to burgers.

Tiki Thai (12100 Sunset Hills Road, Reston) – A vibrant Thai restaurant in a fun, Instagrammable tiki bar setting, Tiki Thai honors Polynesian culture and Thailand’s vast culinary history.

Ted’s Bulletin (multiple locations – Merrifield, Ballston, Reston, & One Loudoun) – Proudly known as “your fun neighborhood restaurant,” Ted’s Bulletin serves up all-things comfort American fare in warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Union Jack Pub & Restaurant (101 North Loudoun Street, Winchester) – Located in a Victorian era Union Bank building in the heart of Old Town Winchester that has since been restored to its original 1878 presence, Union Jack Pub & Restaurant serves delicious British pub cuisine.

Denim & Pearls (29 Main Street, Warrenton) – Featuring whiskey, wine, and the best of all American cuisine, Denim & Pearls is in the heart of Old Town Warrenton and has a dog-friendly patio, making it a delicious spot for everyone to enjoy.

Ireland’s Four Courts (2051 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington) – Known as Arlington’s neighborhood Irish pub, Ireland’s Four Courts is located in Arlington’s Courthouse neighborhood and is the perfect place to enjoy pub fare, drinks, and catch the latest sports game.

Water Bar (1601 Crystal Drive, Arlington) – Nestled atop of a water park, the Water Bar is situated in an open terrace setting, allowing guests to leave their worries aside and gaze into the waters surrounding them and indulge in delicious locally-sourced seafood.

Cheesetique (multiple locations – Del Ray & Shirlington) – A restaurant with an adjacent cheese and wine shop, Cheesetique is a woman-owned local favorite known for their happy hour specials, great cocktails, and cozy vibe.

Patsy’s American (8051 Leesburg Pike, Vienna) – A lively spot to gather in the heart of Tysons Corner, Patsy’s American is a Great American Restaurant known for their energetic bars and delicious American fare.

The Commentary (801 North Glebe Road, Arlington) – A trendy restaurant at the Westin in Arlington’s Ballston neighborhood, The Commentary serves everything from breakfast to happy hour, alongside cocktail-making classes.

Northside Social (multiple locations – Arlington & Falls Church) – A cafe, wine bar, bakery, and coffee shop in both the hearts of Arlington and Falls Church, Northside Social is a neighborhood spot also selling and empowering local artists and their works.

Courthaus Social (2300 Clarendon Boulevard, Arlington) – Conveniently located in the heart of Arlington’s Courthouse neighborhood, Courthaus Social is a popular outdoor beer garden serving German fares, beers, and burgers.

The Golden Plum (126A Commerce Street, Occoquan Historic District) – A family-owned bakery baking up the most delicious fresh pies, cookies, and pastries, The Golden Plum formerly known as Mom’s Apple Pie has been a popular place to indulge in a sweet treat for decades.

Tatte Bakery & Cafe (multiple locations – Alexandria, Arlington, Reston, & Fairfax (coming soon)) – Tatte has several locations across the Washington, DC area as well as the Boston area, however, I ALWAYS forget that there is a Tatte right in the heart of Old Town Alexandria! Tatte is a Mediterranean-inspired cafe selling everything from breakfast and lunch dishes to baked goods and pastries and coffee and tea. Each Tatte location has the most elegant and sophisticated flair and the staff are always ultra-kind and go above and beyond to ensure that each customer has a wonderful experience there. One thing to note about Tatte is that due to its high popularity, locals and tourists alike will flock here in crowds during peak breakfast and lunch times.

Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar, & Eatery (1515 North Courthouse Road, Arlington) – A bakery and cafe serving New Orleans-style delights in the heart of Arlington, Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar, & Eatery also serves a greater purpose as it takes part in local food relief initiatives to ensure everyone has a warm meal.

Ralph’s Coffee (2001 International Drive, Suite 3006, McLean (located inside of Tysons Galleria)) – Calling all fashionista’s!!!  Representing the timeless spirit of the Ralph Lauren brand, the Ralph Lauren brand’s very own coffee shop – Ralph’s Coffee – has its own Northern Virginia location at Tyson’s Galleria.

Commonwealth Joe Coffee Roasters (520 12th Street South, Suite 150, Arlington) – Serving up locally brewed coffee in an industrial setting in the heart of Arlington’s Pentagon City neighborhood, Commonwealth Joe Coffee Roasters brews coffee with super fun seasonal menus, including coffee flights.

Haraz Coffee House (11015 Main Street, Fairfax) – A Yemeni coffee house in Fairfax, Haraz Coffee House serves flavorful coffees, pastries, and teas in an opulent setting.

Rare Bird Coffee Roasters (230 West Broad Street, Falls Church) – To celebrate the differences in both coffee and people, Rare Bird Coffee Roasters brews coffee and pastries in the heart of downtown Falls Church City.

For Five Coffee (multiple locations – Arlington & Alexandria) – With several locations in Northern Virginia and into Washington, DC, For Five Coffee house-roasts their coffee and also serves breakfast, pastries, and happy hour.

Whatever you may be looking for to do or dine, there are so many things to do in Northern Virginia that will exceed your expectations. Personally, I feel beyond lucky to be able to call Northern Virginia my home and have so many incredible things to do in Northern Virginia right within my own backyard!
