Personally, I’ve been a lifelong fan of J Crew and its outlet sister brand J Crew Factory. But, we all know that J Crew can be a bit pricey and that there are brands like J Crew worth supporting and shopping at, too. This shopping guide outlines 20 brands like J Crew – many of which sell clothing for both men and women (and sometimes children, too!) in hopes that YOU find a new brand to love and support.

J Crew Factory has risen in popularity due to its affordability, preppy style, and high value given its more accessible price point. Full transparency over here: This shopping guide will not mention the current discount codes for this very day, as J Crew Factory’s website’ and stores’ promos change on a daily basis. However, in order to receive the most up-to-date information on J Crew Factory’s current promo codes, then look no further than their website to check out Today’s Deals both in-store and online. Some current promotions may be offered exclusively in-store or exclusively online, so keep that in mind. J Crew Factory Quality & Tips For Shopping

It is worth noting that the quality of J Crew Factory’s items do differ from the items sold at J Crew. J Crew Factory’s apparel is typically made in a thinner fabric than its higher end counterpart: J Crew. Yet, J Crew Factory’s clothing is still pretty durable from my own personal experiences. Time and time again, I find myself generally gravitating towards J Crew Factory over J Crew due to the vibrant colors and prints that I adore, timeless staple items in my closet being sold each year, and the price tag being a lot less than its counterpart. 

Here are some tips for navigating the quality of J Crew Factory’s products:

  • Check each product’s fabrics – if a product is 100% cotton, then always be sure to size up since it very well could shrink after washing
  • If you’re nervous before buying, then be sure to read the reviews and look for photos from verified buyers
  • Most items tend to be true to size, but be sure to read up on that before buying

What To Buy

Well-loved and high-quality items (by myself and others that I know) from J Crew Factory include:

  • Denim anything – whether it be jeans, shorts, jackets, etc.
  • Cotton tees 
  • Flannel pajamas including their super fun printed holiday-themed pajama pants 
  • Socks 
  • Button down tops 
  • Skirts/Dresses – whether midi, maxi, or their popular tee-shirt dresses in allll the silhouettes

When To Buy & Major Clearance Sales

Given my 3+ years of experience monitoring clearance sales and J Crew Factory promo codes, I find the following discounts the best time to make your purchase:

  • Avoid purchasing any J Crew Factory items right when New Arrivals are launched on the website. All New Arrivals will ultimately end up on the Clearance rack within a few months’ time
  • J Crew Factory’s website typically rotates between an extra 50% off, 60% off, and 70% off clearance items. Wait until there is an extra 70% off clearance items to buy
  • An Extra 70% off clearance items is typically during United States’ Federal Holiday weekends (e.g. Memorial Day weekend, Presidents’ Day weekend, and Veterans’ Day weekend), Thanksgiving/Black Friday and Christmas timeframe, and right before New Arrivals hit the stores
  • I also try to avoid purchasing items when they are an extra 50% or 60% off clearance, unless a highly coveted wishlist item of mine is about to be out of stock in my size 
  • It is also worth noting that typically you can combine promo codes such as Birthday and Rewards discounts with additional Extra % off of clearance promo codes, too, which is worth taking advantage of as well

Over the years, J Crew Factory has become a popular brand within my own closet. With its excellent deals, preppy appeal, and high-quality for its price point, J Crew Factory promo codes truly make my shopping experience so worth it. I have adored J Crew Factory for 10+ years now, I do not see myself stopping shopping at the preppy fashion brand anytime soon.

My Most Worn & Raved About Skirt

Funny enough, when I ordered my gold pleated skirt via a J Crew Factory sale as an impulse buy, I *never* expected that it would become one of my most coveted pieces in my closet. At the time, I thought welllll it’ll get some use, but little did I know at the time …. Anyhow, this skirt of mine, which is currently out of stock on the J Crew Factory website, has become a FAVORITE of mine and so much so that every time I wear it (which is almost weekly now!) I get a compliment (or two!) on it, whether in an outfit of the day story over on my Instagram (let’s be friends @_thepinkchickadee) or in real life. Needless to say, this gold pleated impulse buy skirt has been indeed a splendid surpass nevertheless!

Ironically, I fell in love with the pleated skirt back in 2021 when I was looking at moving back to the Washington, DC area and saw some of the local bloggers and content creators there wearing the pleated skirt. Whether they worked on Capitol Hill, in government/government contracting, or for one of the many PR firms in the area, *everyone* was wearing the pleated skirt (or at least to my eyes from afar via Instagram stalking in my final North Carolina college days!). I LOVED the poses and versatility of the pleated skirt alongside its glamorous feel for an ordinary office day. As many of us know, Washington, DC gets a bad reputation for its lack of fashionable people. However, I have found the Washington, DC area to have several stylish residents, including the many content creators and bloggers that I looked up to (and still do!) sporting those pleated skirts.

To this *very* day, I still adore the pleated skirt. Hence, my regular occurrences of sporting my only one pretty frequently. Whether for workwear, which is typical for me, or for travel as I wore it on my solo trip to Ireland earlier this year and plan to pack it for upcoming travels of mine as well or for a local day with friends/family, this skirt of mine can be styled for IT ALL! What I LOVE about the gold color is its versatility to be worn all year-round. I definitely will be purchasing another pleated skirt at some point likely in another neutral color (which, yes, Iinclude navy in that list!) or perhaps my signature color … PINK. Stay tuned friends!

One of the things that I have LOVED the most is the consistent love I have received whenever I put on this skirt. Truly, I have NEVER seen so many compliments on just one piece in my closet than this skirt of mine. To my followers and friends on Instagram and beyond, THANK YOU!

Florals for Fall + A Pumpkin Patch Visit!

I am a sucker for ANYTHING floral! And, personally, I have a hard time giving up Spring and Summer styles for Fall styles, especially, when the Fall styles are typically anything BUT bright and floral. BUT, who says that floral can’t be for Fall?!?! Definitely NOT me and clearly not others either!

Over the years since becoming a J Crew Factory fanatic, I have come to notice that the preppy fashion brand is ALWAYS serving up some fun Fall floral merchandise year after year. I am a firm believer that there is ALWAYS an opportunity to express gratitude and find joy in each physical season of the year and season of life. Nevertheless, these unique floral prints make me get excited for Fall and bring me SO MUCH JOY, as I embrace the cooler temperatures in the air.

To further embrace the Fall season, Papa and I decided to visit a local-to-us produce shop: Nalls Produce. Nalls Produce has been serving the Northern Virginia community since 1961, carrying local produce, plants, jams, and seasonal items (including their signature Fall Pumpkin Hill!) alongside an onsite …. PIG for visitors and shoppers to get to know! Papa and I have made visiting Nalls Produce during the Fall season an annual tradition. This time around, we brought my camera to snap several photos and picked up some jams, mums, and pumpkins because Tis the Season! Needless to say, I have adored our Nalls Produce Fall tradition and look forward to it next year (or maybe a second time this year!).

My Summer Staple: The Lobster Dress!

Growing up, I spent Summers with my Mom, brother, cousins, Aunts, Uncles, Grandpa and family members/family friends of ALLL generations up in Northern Maine and Canada. Those Summers are the origin of many of my best memories from that season, including eating *none other than* … lobster (!!!!!). Now that the Summers in Maine aren’t as frequent and look a bit different, my love for lobster-printed everything still reigns supreme. SO, knowing that every Summer J Crew Factory launches a brand-new lobster print, I cannot help but make a purchase (or two!) in that print year after year!

Over the weekend, my Dad, Step Mom, and I went to The Restaurant at Lighthouse Sound (I share more about my experiences there here!) which is my favorite dinner spot when I visit them in Delaware. I *of course* wore my J Crew Factory lobster dress in this year’s print. Funny enough, I wore my lobster dress from last year’s print made by J Crew Factory to dinner at The Restaurant at Lighthouse Sound during our family reunion. J Crew Factory has since become one of my FAVORITE places to shop and their annual lobster print (which I have purchased multiple items in that print since Summer 2023!) makes me even more excited to order pieces from there, too!

One of the things that I LOVE about J Crew Factory is their continuous sales on merchandise. Especially when an item is on clearance, J Crew Factory will add *even more* additional markdowns to it with a discount code. I have ALSO signed up for Rewards, since I shop there *a bit* too frequently and can earn free shipping and additional discounts from time to time, too. My love for lobsters definitely stems from my childhood Summers up in Maine. From our continuous family road trips up the Maine coasts and throughout New England, to the Summers spent at the Houlton, Maine lobster festival and scoring Friday afternoon doorbuster deals on lobster rolls at the local Houlton Farms Dairy, truly lobsters remind me of many lovely Summers spent up North! And, I LOVE that I can carry those many splendid Summer memories of mine into many more Summer memories to make and cherish during my mid-20’s and beyond.

Mixing Prints in a Patriotic Fashion

Today, a lady approached me at the AT&T store and was so excited at the way I mixed my Lilly Pulitzer “It’s All a Dream” Ophelia shift with my custom-designed Etsy monogrammed tote in the Peel n’ Eat print about how I mixed the prints in a stylish fashion. Little did I know when I simply grabbed my tote and wore a super cute dress that I would be stylish mixing prints – I did it without even thinking! However, last weekend, I traveled all the way to Bethany Beach, Delaware and, on a day trip to the nearby town of Lewes, Delaware, I intentionally mixed some prints for a Memorial Day look.

Today’s Katie’s Confetti Style is ALL about how I styled that look. The best part?! Each piece in this look I have owned for 2+ years or was gifted secondhand!

  • Top: J Crew Factory (purchased in Summer 2017 and it’s actually a pool cover-up!)
  • Necklace: Kendra Scott (gifted!)
  • Skirt: American Eagle (given to me from my friend Kaylee in a clothing swap)
  • Clutch: Kate Spade (got it at my local outlet and it’s actually a wallet!)
  • Sandals: Kate Spade (got them at a Marshall’s in Spring 2017 while on vacation)

Little did I know, shopping my own closet can provide me with a super stylish look while also providing a story to each and every piece in it. Summer 2021 brings about some exciting and patriotic holidays – Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day – without as much worry about COVID-19. In order to save some money for some exciting plans I have coming up over the next two patriotic summer holidays, I am glad I could find something cute to wear straight from my closet!
