What I Wore To Work – April 2025

Nevertheless, April 2025 has been a good whirlwind of a work month! This past month, I have been working on refining my 2025 professionals goals (specifically for Q2-Q4) and feel very excited about where I am going. At the same time, I also have been striving to go into the office more on some of the more social days that my primarily remote working environment has within the office. I went into the office for the first time in 2025 and since May 2024 to work there and it was a lovely time. I am looking forward to more office days and striving to accomplish my Q2-Q4 2025 goals!

Moving forward when it comes to what I wore posts here on the blog, I will be linking each of my outfits to my Shop LTK platform where you can see where each piece has been purchased from. This change has been implemented based off of YOUR feedback for wanting to shop what I wear on a daily basis!

This month, I also wrote about incorporating Lilly Pulitzer into my workwear (here). Yes, it IS possible to wear Lilly Pulitzer at the office when styled accordingly. In fact, my go-to going to the office tote is a Lilly Pulitzer canvas tote (I think?) now retired Lilly Loves DC print! While I didn’t wear a ton of Lilly Pulitzer this past month, I do adore incorporating my favorite fashion brand into my work looks.

On Wearing Lilly Pulitzer At Work

During my latter years of college and pre-workforce days, the idea that Lilly Pulitzer attire was not meant to be worn in the workplace was very much emphasized. Unless you worked at a Lilly Pulitzer boutique and had a business casual dress code, the idea that you are to wear bright and colorful attire such as the likes of Lilly Pulitzer felt very taboo. Well, that idea of wearing Lilly Pulitzer in the workplace felt very taboo to those that were around me. However, ever since I’ve been in the workforce since July 2021, I have seen the benefits to embracing one’s personal style in the workplace *even* if that consists of bright colors and wearing Lilly Pulitzer at work.

I primarily work from home in my 9-5 and while I love the freedom and flexibility of that lifestyle for the time being especially to be with my Papa and dog Rosie on a workday basis, I also love that it brings me the freedom to express myself within my own workplace attire. I do share my daily work outfits on the blog (see here, here, here, and here to find some in the archives!) on a monthly basis and have since April 2023. I find joy in getting dressed and truly expressing myself and showing my outfits off to those around me. Some days though, I do go into the office and show off my personal style within the business causal yet jeans are allowed dress code that my employer has set forth. Andddd, my personal style involves …. Lilly Pulitzer!

A few years ago, a coworker and mentor of mine within my own career and I were discussing the growing desire for us women to show off our own personal styles within our workwear. For both of us that involves wearing bright colors such as PINK to work. I have seen this coworker of mine who I adore styling sparkly pink blazers as well as sparkly bow heels to corporate events and networking mixers. She has also worn bright pink dresses and bright colored pantsuits to speak on company-hosted panels. Truly, she is a fashion icon and inspiration within the corporate world of style. Especially in my home base of Washington, DC, the fashion world especially within my industry and many of the major industries here can be seen as well … boring and bland. However, corporate fashion, regardless of industry or where you live, doesn’t have to be boring and/or bland. Simply putting, we need a few trailblazers such as my coworker and mentor to show us that you CAN embrace your own individuality within the workplace when done appropriately.

On Wearing Lilly Pulitzer at Work

Yes, there have been several occasions that I’ve worn Lilly Pulitzer to the office. I do have a few favorite pieces that I adore specifically for those workday occasions. My favorite go-to Lilly Pulitzer workwear piece is the Elsa top, which I have worn for company promotional events and videos (and gotten several compliments on from women in my own company’s leadership, too!). At the same time, I adore wearing a Lilly Pulitzer printed dress (not too revealing) with a pair of neutral flats/heels, a cardigan/blazer, and accessories, too. In fact, I’ve worn a bright pink Lilly Pulitzer shift for my company headshot! Needless to say, I’m a firm believer that if styled appropriately for your office’s dress code, you can wear Lilly Pulitzer to the office.

Speaking at a work-sponsored conference in Lilly Pulitzer!
Styling a Lilly Pulitzer dress for a company event!
The moment after I styled a Lilly Pulitzer Elsa top for a company video!
Styling a Lilly Pulitzer blouse for a company symposium!

Wrap-Up:

From company-sponsored conferences to company videos, events, and symposiums, Lilly Pulitzer has truly been the one constant within my wardrobe at each occasion. Unlike my fears of having to reevaluate my love of Lilly Pulitzer and desires for entering the corporate world post-graduation from college, I am so glad that those fears have since been debunked. If only 21 year old Katie could see herself today!!

What I Wore to Work – December 2024

As y’all may already know, I share my work outfits over on my Instagram stories (let’s be friends @_thepinkchickadee) and have LOVED getting to share my day-to-day style with y’all. December working outfits definitely have a holiday twist to them! It is ALWAYS so so so fun to pull out allll of the holiday apparel this time of year. While I am a HUGE dressy girly and ADORE wearing dresses like ALLL the time especially in my work outfits, when the temperature is freezing outside, I am WAYYYY less likely to wear a dress or skirt! December 2024 was definitely spent in a lot more lounge like clothing than dressy clothing as the 2024 work year is wrapping up. I did, HOWEVER, attend an in-person work event at the tail end of my working December month and hence I had a great opportunity to style some tights for a working day – LOLLLL – which was a nice break from the typical sweats and leggings!!

December is typically pretty quiet in my working world work-wise, but this year, it was actually a more busier working month! I actually found some of the earlier Fall months like September and October to be a bit quieter. I got an exciting opportunity to lead a smaller team on my current project this December – a rare time for these opportunities but nevertheless we embrace and take it on! At the same time, I am working on generating goals for the upcoming 2025 year professionally in my 9-5 and here on this platform. And, last but not least, it is WILD that this is my last blog post where I will be sharing work outfits for 2024! I initially started sharing work outfits as a way to hold myself accountable to feeling more productive while working from home back in May 2023 and provide others with style inspiration while at it. To end 2024, I have shared over 300 work outfits since then. I am pleased to share that I will continue to share my work outfits with y’all into 2025 and beyond (!!!!), as sharing my work outfits with y’all bring me SO MUCH JOY. Enough of my soap box, but thank YOU for being here and for making work outfits fun to share!!

What I Wore To Work – November 2024

November work-wise, while a slower month than usual (it is typically the case in the work that I do!), definitely had a few professional highs. A successful work event kicked off my November working month and a few successful accolades in my day-to-day working world closed it out. At the same time, I was able to take two trips this month (hence the lesser volume of work outfits in this post!) to New York City for some early November Christmas cheer (here) and to Toronto to see Taylor Swift perform on her Eras Tour (!!!!) and *of course* do some sightseeing (more to come on this trip!). I feel SO fortunate that professionally, I was able to take some time off this month but also accomplish some things on the work front.

Many of y’all over on Instagram (let’s be friends @_thepinkchickadee) were asking about some of the pieces that I styled! I actually thrift A LOT including many of my name brand pieces (!!!) and would LOVE to share more about my thrifting experiences and journey shopping secondhand in the coming months with y’all. Overall, I encourage y’all to shop sustainably to both save a bit of cash and help out the planet, too.

What I Wore to Work – October 2024

October was truly October-ing for me this October 2024! Indeed, weather-wise this October had some warm and cooler days and has been much more refreshing than the swamp of a Summer that is typical for the Washington, DC area. There’s nothing super new or significant professionally for October 2024, but nevertheless, I am plugging away (as my Papa says!) and am making strides in my career for the future. Through it all though, I have enjoyed the cooler temperatures, time with loved ones, and the excitement towards a lighter workload as the holidays approach (my industry is super quiet during the last two months of the year!).

On my Instagram (let’s be friends @_thepinkchickadee), I have been sharing ALLL about what I like to call Fall fashion-wise … Pink Fall! I have LOVED here and there getting to style fun outfits with my favorite color PINK. One of the things that disappoints me a bit about Fall is the societal expectation to put away the bright colors from Summer and get out the darker colors for Fall. Fall and Winter and even Spring doesn’t mean we do not have to wear our favorite bright colored pieces. SO, Happy PINK FALL!

What I Wore to Work – June 2024

Ahhhhhh, June 2024, I am SO glad you are over! While I made some great memories during June 2024, there were also some tough times, too. HOWEVER, despite these trying times due to some family things, I really enjoyed getting to break out my Summer workwear wardrobe! I have worn SO MUCH Lilly Pulitzer this month, which is my favorite fashion designer (!!!!!). I also enjoyed shopping the Lilly Pulitzer June 2024 Surprise Sale as well and grabbing only two things (VERY proud of myself for this one!). Through it all, Lilly Pulitzer has reminded me (and us all too!) to truly think of the sunshine and the sunnier moments ahead!

June 2024 definitely felt more casual due to the current heatwaves in the Washington, DC area and helping my Papa recover from his knee replacement surgery. However, I have enjoyed *finally* getting some use out of some of my more casual pieces that aren’t pajamas. Though, on the flip side of things, I DID style a nightgown (!!!!) for workwear this month, which was a FUN one! Here’s to some stylish professional wear in July and the rest of the Summer and beyond!

What I Wore to Work – April 2024

April 2024 was a short but sweet work month! I started my month off with an INCREDIBLE (!!!!!) 8-day long trip to Ireland and graduating from my Ignite Young Professionals program JUST DAYS after landing back in the states and a trip to Delaware in the mix of it all and then ended it with some exciting things on the horizon and in the works at my 9-5. Personally, I LOVE being on the grind, but always LOVE taking some time to genuinely be with myself and essentially take some time to rest and be more mindful (which I did in Ireland AND am working on doing more so in my daily life!). Needless to say, while a *pretty* chaotic yet exciting work month that started off with a vacation, I have closed out April 2024 professionally feeling LOTSSS of gratitude for what is to come.

As for fashion, I had a BALL styling some fun Spring 2024 outfits! March was a fuse between Winter to False Spring and then Winter ALLLL over again, so it was REALLY nice to have a primarily warm and rather Spring-y April month!!! Ireland was *pretty* cold and windy, too, to kick off April, so it was oh so nice to come back to a warmer Washington, DC! Personally, Spring is my FAVORITE fashion season (alongside Fall!), as new seasons bring new light and excitement and joy within the fashion worlds.

What I Wore to Work – February 2024

February 2024 was SUCH A FUN (!!!!) month in regards to travel to an early Spring (and *even* Spring cleaning) to excitement on the professional front. From recovering from COVID fatigue and lingering COVID to traveling to Texas and North Carolina to transitioning my wardrobe to Spring, my February wardrobe has evolved with the changing times of the month. Peak bloom of the Washington, DC cherry blossoms is estimated for March 23-26 as the National Park Service predicts! SO, in typical Katie fashion, I brought out the Spring clothes in February and put the Fall/Winter wardrobe away!

While the holiday season was SUCH A FUN TIME for me in October-December 2023, January and early February 2024 were a bit …. Eh. I got COVID for the first time in January of this year and had a lengthy recovery. Surprisingly speaking, some excitement on the professional front brought me out of my COVID fatigue and sped up recovery. I am ALSO soooo excited that Spring is *finally* coming to the Washington, DC area! I truly miss the warmer climates and love love love Spring/Fall weather the most with its mild outdoor climates. However, as we move into March 2024, my allergies are continuing, but the excitement for Spring persists evermore.

What I Wore to Work – October 2023

From feeling like Summer to feeling like Winter to everything in between, weather-wise, October 2023 truly was the perfect definition of a typical Washington, DC Fall (if you know, you know!). And, in my professional life, A LOT of excitement has occurred (!!!!) from getting an unexpected promotion to working on some very exciting tasks to going back to the classroom to starting my first-ever professional certification and *even* speaking at a conference in Washington, DC in between it all, October 2023 has been one of THE MOST exciting professional months for me. Personally, October 2023 has sucked when it came to allergies and feeling perhaps under the weather more than usual. I definitely chose leggings and skorts *even with a cute and maybe snazzy top* over a dress and likely will continue to do so this Fall/Winter season! Anyhow, with the transition from warmer temperatures to cooler ones, I am very excited to be able to style some Fall/Winter pieces from within my own closet.

I think one of the biggest themes within my fashion choices this October 2023 is how much I LOVE choosing comfort over anything else. And, yes, there IS a benefit to comfort when working from home. BUT, I can also dress stylish and make comfortable feel confident and fun, too. Comfort is MORE than just a pair of sweatpants and a fuzzy robe (HOWEVER, that is a great way to snuggle up in these chilly temperatures, too!). I have definitely found myself enjoying hibernating, too, as it gets cooler which I think leads to why I’m often opting for leggings. We shall see how I progress over the rest of the Fall/Winter season, though! And, as it appears in the most recent Washington, DC news, it will be a snowy snowy snowy Winter (!!!!), which may make for some ultra-stylish and fun photos.

What I Wore to Work – July 2023

July 2023 kicked off with the July 4th holiday festivities and feeling SOOO refreshed after being on vacation in South Carolina for the latter part of June. Work-wise, I jumped right back in with a much clearer head post-vacation ready to take all that may come my way. Work-wise this year, July has been my busiest month to date (SUCH a surprise to many given that July is in the peak of Summer, yet Summer is my busy season at work!). At the same time, July 2023 has also been one of the most exciting months for me professionally. I have been fortunate enough to reach some of my biggest professional and also blogger goals and milestones this month. Needless to say, July 2023 and beyond are going to be VERY exciting for me both professionally and personally on this blog.

Since kicking off sharing my work outfits on this platform back in May (here), it has become nothing but a highlight of my working days for me to share what I wear. Before I shared my work outfits with y’all, ALL I wanted to do was go into the office every single day just so I could put on a cute outfit. However, on the same token, I have learned to LOVE the work from home life and its perks (something my company decided to allow employees to do moving forward) and find sharing my daily outfits with y’all to be my happy haven. The joy I get from sharing my outfit of the day on my Instagram stories (follow me on Instagram @_thepinkchickadee) and seeing others feel the joy from it too is such a gift for me. July 2023 was my second full month sharing my daily outfits and hopefully FAR from one of the last. I am grateful for the love I get both on social media and here on this website for sharing what I wear!

There is only ONE MORE MONTH of Summer 2023 which has flown by wayyyy too fast for many of us. Not going to lie over here, I am beyond ready for Spooky Season and Fall 2023. But, at the same time, I am enjoying styling Summer 2023 outfits for work and play while I can. In the Washington, DC area, school starts by August 30 for most students, which makes me really excited to see Fall kicking off (despite not going back to school any time soon!). Back to School/Fall fashion is SO fun to style, too, but for now, I am going to enjoy ~6-8 weeks of more Summer looks.
